Moar rewards!

Apr 15, 2008 zamzx zik link
You can never have too many rewards. I think it would be interesting to not get 'medals' from some missions, but rather flat-out 'recommendations'. Say, Medals you'd get from the military, and these 'recommendations' would be something akin to references on your resume.

....But if that fails, more medals. :P

I like this idea...referals from mining and research companies. it is more logical than medals and badges.

yeah but more relevant than your actual license?

ok...so thats a good point too. licenses do kind of act as a ranking...on the other hand, high licenses may not actually mean skill so much as time spent in game.

The idea is rather like how we have resumes in real life. A company or organization recommending you for work. So it could even work as a tier system in some places; You get mentioned and can rise higher in the hierarchy of a specific organization, or business. (It'd be like Apple saying how great of a designer you are; When you want to go anywhere else in that particular field, you'd have a significant reference.

On another hand, it could also work as a commendation, such as a simple "Miner of the Month".

It's not a fleshed out idea, I'll admit. Contribute some here, people!

basically, resume based missions? like for a miner who has brought in say...2000 cu of rare ore/the fastest traders. or for people who pass TPG test pilot certification? availability of special ships? something along those lines perhaps?

i work in a very large enterprise and i can assure you something: rank has nothing, *no*thing* to do with competence.

*sigh*

so, vo license do serve that purpose. sissy medals, the other.

and another counter-point... those mining medals... they're not about competence either...

lol...so many good points in this thread.

The spider web of requirements for using recommendations instead of levels is complex and yikes.

E.G. To take mission X you need to have.

10 Level on mission recommends from Mining facilities, or
4 Level two recommends from Mining facilities or
Have completed the mission Foo or
...

I have a feeling something like this doesn't even fit into the soon (TM) category.

/me hereby seconds uc's point

Often, rank is inversely proportional to competence, or at least to willingness to put said skills to any useful purpose.
