Military resupply costs.

BS is awesome, but it hurts the pocket book bunches. I'm not a trader, nor a miner and I usually only get on to play some BS. So, my idea is kinda like that of a procurement mission. If you die you front the cost, but if you repair or reload in a cap ship you could get reimbursed at the mission's end.

I'd say just reduce the amount that the repair aboard Capital ships takes. Considering that you are a member of the Military and you are fighting in an official campaign, then repair costs should actually be LOWER not HIGHER.
An example would be who pays to repair a combat F-15? The US Government
Who pays to repair your car when you wreck it? You

In this case, our fighters are serving the same general role as the F-15. And thus the Itani or Serco government would assume at least the majority of the repair costs.

The convience of this is offset my just how hard it can be to get to the capital-ships while engaged in the fight.

Yeah, nice logic there Ace. So let me ask you this... what costs more money? Buying snacks at the theatre, right there where you want to watch the movie, or back at the grocery store where you have to take it with you? In fact, I suppose that means that Cap-ships should make it against the rules to bring ammo with you to their turrets, and if you do then you'll just have to throw it away, and maybe bang your ship up a little too.

Yeah, hooray "logic". Great stuff.

You could just give the cap ships limited resupply ammo, and only supplies for certain weapons, for which you might also have a maximum quota. I agree that the pilot should not need to pay for the costs of war. They're already risking their life (as it were).

The cap ships are able to generate enough energy to power their turrets, so perhaps the TRIDENTS are best suited for the task of resupply; you can board them, and they don't have defensive weapons. Right now, they seem strategically unimportant. If given a refitting role, they would hold a higher priority for destruction. Perhaps they should be given one or two defensive weapons, also, or be accompanied by a contingent of defensive fighters. Defensive fighters would probably wield a combination of High-explosive, low payload missiles (the Xang Xi concussion missile comes to mind) and Popcorn guns.

No... just because you land on a Cap-ship doesn't mean you're a stalwart defender for your nation's cause. Come on people, seriously. It should just, obviously, be a factor determined by your standing with your nation. How pissed off would you be if you were running BS, and a bunch of UIT merchants in the area filled up on an HAC, took all the supplies, and left again? That's a possibility with your half-baked idea of supplies being free, to everybody, all of the time, to the limit at infinity etc.

What you're *TRYING* to say is that people who take the mission should get first dibs, as per the OP. Agreed.

I was going to make a comment on how this was not at all what i first suggested, but i decided against it.

Mynnayage, did you read what I wrote? Only mission-holding players would be able to dock with those ships.

Yes, we have UIT traders who try to pawn the scraps of destroyed vessels. But these ships shouldn't be allowed to board military cap ships during a battle.
