Transporting Hulls

Okay, so here's my thought.
The universe presently has a very diverse ship base across it. UIT space allows access to the Raptor, Serco space to the Vulture Guardian, Itani space to the Valkyrie, etc, ad nausium.

What I think should be considered is the ability to rapidly transport sets of these fighters across the Universe, something faster than 4 hours to ferry a few dozen fighters.

What if we could load fighter hulls (no weapons, no battery) like cargo?
In the case of how large the fighters are, the carrying craft would obviously need a sizable hold. And not all ships would be transportable.

I figure the math works that a fighter carries between 2-3 Light Weapons, usually 1-3cu weight each (say: 2-9cu)then a battery that usually weighs about 3cu. This total comes to 12cu max. The cargo capacity of these ships ranges from 2-8cu. Our total reaches 20cu.
Now I figure that the ships that hold only this level of equipment can't be that big themselves. If we were to assign a "CU" level to each fighter hull, we could use Behemoths to transport several hulls to and from stations across the universe.
Example:
Vulture Fighter: 50cu
Raptor Fighter: 60-65cu
Warthog Fighter: 60-65cu
Valkyrie Fighter: 100cu

This would mean a Behemoth XC could transport 4 Vultures, 3 Raptors or 2 Valkyries.

To get around the idea of the fighter's size compared to the size of the Behemoth in terms of game visuals, and the statistical wingspan/length, it could be argued that we could partly disassemble the fighters or that, similar to US Fighters, the wings fold up, engine pylons are removed (in case of the Raptor), etc etc.

This would mean though that fighters could potentially also become a form of 'trade good' where a Behemoth, or Behemoth XC could drop fighter hulls outside when destroyed.
I'd say that this isn't a bad thing per se, because most pirate craft that could destroy a Behemoth, or XC easily, would not have sufficient cargo room to transport a fighter hull inside their holds.
Additionally, we would need a new, in-game icon for cargo, I'd think something similar to what we have already, just a different color, (say: blue).

What does everyone think?

Ships already have volume, varying between 100 and 300 cu.

Unfortunately, shape also matters. It's quite hard to imagine a long, flat vulture actually fitting into a sort-of-cubic moth. Somehow it works though. o.0

Lets just assume that the ships are properly disassembled and packaged in bubble wrap when they're being shipped, then.

Christ man, are you just trying to amuse yourself by going through the "please read..." thread and reposting old and stupid topics to see if anyone notices?
If so, I'm onto you! Muahahaha!

Even today vehicles are disassembled for transport, from cars to spaceships.

one should need to pay money to have a ship disassembled, then reassembled again.

or you can just transport it as-is using a cap ship.

Genka: I prefer to call it "objective assessment" and note that these topics still remain relevant today for the game, and drawing on new ideas for these topics isn't a bad thing.
But actually, I think these things up, then check the "please read.." thread. Sometimes I don't even check the old thread and someone has to post it for me because I forget.

SilentWave: I like the idea about paying for disassembly/reassembly, since I doubt any pilot would be mechanically savvy enough to unbolt the wings from a Vulture or the engine pylons from a Raptor and then package them and transport them.

Specially with the click of a button. But let's not bring logic into this.

what about a the ability to transform ships into cargo it would cost a certain amount of creds depending on the ship and presto the ship turns into a commodity and cannot be used until it is reassembled again for random uses.

Phish, shut the hell up.

The biggest beef I have with Eve is how your need to *manually* click each freakin' stack of crates, to have them *automatically* and magically disassembled, before you sell any item. And guess what? If that game followed a bit of logic, not only would the control scheme not suck, but it might be intuitive to play, not requiring hours of instructive material to tackle the most basic of challanges! Gee, what a fine man-made creation that stuff, logic is.
