Running vo at resolutions Lower than 800x600
Vo automatically resizes my desktop to 800x600 it looks great but i get the windows scrolling screen magjig. And i'm wondering if its possible for a resize to 800x480.
pleasy o great wonderful devs of vendetta make this happen so I and other Eee users can play vo.
Thank ye for your time.

Once upon a time, you could run VO lower than 800x600 (640x480 was possible, infact I think 320x240 was possible once) but this was changed when they re-did the UI. I think they said it was cos the interface would not fit properly on a screen below 800x600. If it can be done though, I see no reason why they shouldn't add support for at least the (becoming common) 800x480 res.
If people wanna run VO with f'ugly looking interfaces and illegible text, let em?

why do i have resolution option like 600x800 for people with screen sideways or what?
Pretty much.
the game probably only checks if the vertical resolution is above the minimum
i like to have my monitor mounted at a 45 degree angle from vertical. Can you please make me a better resolution. I get tired of holding my head at an angle.
Waffles: You could probably convince OpenGL to do that for you, but you will likely have to write the modifications yourself.
My laptop runs native at 1280x800 because it has a widescreen aspect ratio. I don't know of any monitors that have a shorter horizontal width than the vertical height. Perhaps a PDA/cell phone?
Would you really want to play VO on a cell phone?

i wanna play vo on m damn Eeepc it runs great and all but i dont like having parts of my hud cut off
Interesting. I hadn't looked at the Eee PC before. That 800x480 is the native resolution of the LCD screen.
Does the screen support other resolutions? Perhaps 1200x720. VO naturally adjusted to my widescreen resolution without me having to change anything, so guess it should do the same for yours if you can fake it into meeting the requirements.
[edit]
It looks like the 800x480 is standard for any of the sub-notebooks that are coming out now. Perhaps official VO support of that resolution would be a good idea.

i can play vo at 800x600 same with many other games that dont want to go down to 640x480 and strech the screen
when i get 800x600 its virtual resolution and the screen scrolls around when i put the mouse on the edge. Thats not a problem for in station menus but its not so good for the hu cause i have to choose between my radar or the chatbox and my opponents health.

Sounds like that Eeepc isn't as cool after all :P
you noob its perfect for starcraft pharaoh and Command and RA2
any game that runs at 640x480 is flawless on the Eee
lets try and keep this on topic ok

Since the new driver for the eeepc doesn't allow for virtual resolutions (at least in linux) i'm bringing this topic back, a resolution of 800x480 seems to be the standar for 7" screens.
I don't know how difficult whould it be to make VO run on 800x480, but i'm sure some of us would really apprecciate it.
If it doesn't look good maybe u can put an "experimental" or something like that when selecting the mode.
I'm frustrated i cant get vo to run on my eeepc.

It's not impossible to make the game work in 800x480. For the station interface, we would have to get rid of the chat at the top of the screen. The HUD we would probably leave the same. It would fundamentally work, albeit with some obvious tradeoffs.
We have talked about this (even for the EeePC and other super-compact laptops), but honestly.. I don't think it's the best use of our time right now. It would require some UI fiddling on Ray's part, and I have a lot of other, more game-critical things I'd like him to focus on.
So, we're open to it, and will consider it down the road, but probably not in the immediate future.

I liked being able to play on my laptop with a software renderer at 640x480 or so.
Just some flag in the config file to allow all resolutions would be enough.. the UI can probably be chopped up with a plugin.
