Piracy Hive
Remember the pirates that sucked because there would be 50 of them at every WH but they could atleast damage and frighten convoys (when they moved)?
Well how about this
Much like how we have the levi lets have a corvus owned Capital ship that expands outward into grey space spawning small groups of pirates in WH sectors and eventually ending up with Tridents etc
Since the Hive engine is clearly already in place since the devs are almost ready to launch 2 more hives this could add another level of Human vs Human combat as pirate players could participate with the pirates which is something we do not have with the Bug hive
as with the regular hive if the patrolling Carrier group (HAC with Trident escorts and fighters and yes it moves around) is obliterated all the pirates retreat and the cycle begins again
This would allow for Good and evil missions satisfying both types of players and it would simulate Corvus' influence getting out of hand and the universe needing to keep them in line from time to time

this has been suggested before but I dont know if something like it has had its own thread yet. anyways, I think the amount of pirates in each wh sector should be based on the amount of traffic through it recently.

Hobos are for spoiled teenagers to beat on; pirates are for VO's wormholes.
I like this idea, though it should be limited to Odia, the darkest (supposedly) of all the systems in VO.

The same line of thinking could be used in Deneb as well.
Two "hive" style mission groups, one for Itani, and one for Serco, constantly trying to fight for control of the system.
It wouldn't be the all encompassing resource war that is envisioned, but it could be a good stop gap for the time being.

Heh, I like the idea of being able to take "hive" missions on the bad side. But if you are taking a mission on the pirate side to start invading nation space WHs, there might also be a severe faction standing penalty. So that way it would be a mission only the true pirates would dare undergo. And it could also be the best way of losing standing with Corvus, if you go up against the pirates. Maybe an Itani could join the pirates' side on an invasion of Serco space, or viceversa. Lots of possibilities, anyway. This would deff. be something fun to play around with.
