Haven't come across this yet (although I have looked), but is it possible to change the mouse to pitch and roll rather than pitch and yaw?

It would allow more precise control over your craft, and, it would be more realistic.

it would feel more like an airplane

not necessarily more realistic because in space you do not need to move forward constantly to keep afloat
that makes the movement alot different
