"Stealth" the UIT Maud (Harder to find on radar)
This ship is worthless, with no role. The Raptor was like this too, so it got better sensors. So how about the UIT maud gets sort of the opposite, where other ships don't see it on radar until they're much closer (IE it only appears at 1000m? Maybe even less?)
(Thanks for ctish for the inspiration of this idea, here)

its still gonna be pretty useless other than carrying CTC cargo
that would make it sorta cheap

I respectfully disagree with the premise that the maud is worthless. It is far from worthless.
It may not be designed as a brawler but with a 3-s port configuration, found only on one other ship in the game, it can hold its own in a fight and it is also an agile trade vessel with good carrying capacity.

Smittens is talking specifically about the basic Marauder variant sold at UIT stations, not the faction variants. The UIT Marauder is just barely able to hold its own in a fight, and is anything but agile when being used as a cargo transport. Only the TPG and Corvus variants can really be considered 'agile' while carrying cargo, and even that can sometimes be a stretch. There's a reason nobody flies the standard one as soon as they have access to the faction variants.
For just the standard UIT variant, this would make it have a use other than "hangar ornament". Yes please.

Woah, Miharu agrees with me. I think that's proof that this should be put ingame like...now :)
it needs more than just some stealth, that wouldnt help it against wh camping pirates or anything, perhaps an option to turn off engines or something, and let it drift and as long as you dont turbo, you cant be picked up on radar. you would still be targetable however.
Yes... turn off the engines... please....
But really, the engine thing sounds like a good plan, you can't accelerate, turn, fire, etc, but you also dont show up on radar.

This would actually kind of make sense. Shut down all the electronic devices on the ship (Yes, i know... not a good idea) to make it harder to scan. Then it could appear as a roid on the radar.
EDIT: Although, for this to make sense, some of the ship systems would have to be disabled aswell (nearby ships, maneuvering, weapon systems etc)

Okay, maybe I've just always liked the marauder. Still, I'd wager a full UIT maud could beat a half empty moth carrying the same cargo.
There are also other cases where one variant is 'eclipsed' by more advanced versions (e.g. the vulture). At least the basic maud is widely available.

lukasn, wouldn't it be just a TAD suspicious seeing a roid moving on the radar...?
XD
XD
Isn't the UIT maud intended as a trade ship though? I always thought the idea behind the UIT maud was a transport that you could take where you might not want to take a moth/taur.
Then again I haven't flown one in about 3 years now, so I may have forgotten if it handles any better than a taur with cargo.

@Hedgehogs4Me: Well, since the Engines would have to be shut down, it wouldn0t be moving. I was thinking about this being an option for traders, to hide inside a roid field from chasing pie-rats. It's more of a RP feature tho.

Tell that to Spuck. I beat his empty Maud using a 1/4 loaded moth with Megaposis.
HH4M: No, because unless you're stopped, you wouldn't notice it with all the other roids moving on your radar. Any speed variation would be lost as a distance parameter. Besides, you're not looking for grey dots on your radar, you're looking for green/red and yellow ones.
lukasn, you can be moving at any sub-turbo velocity with your engines powered down. The engines only accelerate your ship; initial velocity can be anything.

Ghost, you're safer in a taur... you're probably even safer in a moth - those have big engines and heavy armor... the maud can't accelerate worth crap when it's loaded, and it's made of paper.
K,point taken. But maybe then it should be buffed into a better trade ship and not a better combat ship? I'm just wary about making every single ship a semi-decent combat ship. Specificity is our friend at this point. Currently the moth is the only example of a role specific ship (filling a role other than combat).
It's already a good combat ship... you just have to jett the cargo. I don't see why people insist on buffing it so much it can fight with it - it's not supposed to, and it's not like your opponent is going to run off with all of it - you're fighting them.
