Squads!
As simple as this sounds, I think we need an interface for creating squads, to set out on missions. Easy access to messaging your squadmates, and possibly a new colour on the radar for easy identification of teammates.
This would make flag runs much easier :) and much more coordinated.
Possibly a squad leader, who , you guessed it, leads the mission. the guy everyone follows.. this could also be optional.

technically, your whole team should be your squad. having teams within teams is kinda redundant
Not really. Say you are doing a double pronged attack, we blues kinda made an orange squad for red falg and a "Hot Pink" squad for golds color(dont ask me Phoenix is the one who wanted it)
It would be nice to se which person is on wich squad.

Hey, if my ship is hot pink OR orange i will change teams! (j/k)
Squads would be good, a back up squad, a defensive squad, an attacker squad...

Squads are a good idea. WatercooledCT, most airforces have squads, and thier one big team, are they redundant?

Yup. You think a group called guildsoft would allow for guild creation. Keke.
I think that this would be very useful in making trading safer, by making it easier to group trade-ships and escorts togeather. Right now almost nobody seems to fly with escorts, simply because with the present communication system it's to hard to organize something like that, making them easy prey for pirates. If the traders teamed up, though, the pirates would have to do the same in order to be effective, which means that they wouldn't be able to cover as many sectors, leaving more trade routes safe for nonhostiles.
Cross-team squads would be nice...
