Some Suggestions from a New Player

I've been playing VO for a little while now and I am quite pleased with its potential. I think VO is definitely going places.

Here's some suggestions that I believe would greatly improve gameplay (at least my gameplay). I removed ones that I've already seen on the forum.

1) Hostile player alert/klaxxon. This seems like it would be a standard feature in any space vessel.

2) Low armor/structural breech warning/klaxxon. Also something that you think would be a fairly standard feature (I'm not sure if this can be scripted or not, I haven't found any info on LUA in VO).

3) Incrimental perimiter warnings with differing klaxxons.

4) Ship running-lights (okay so this one is just vanity =D).

5) Weapons or radar scramblers. Just an idea, but I can see why people might be opposed to it.

6) Multiple home stations or return to nearest station instead of home station.

7) This is kind of a silly idea, but I myself have cargo, ships, weapons and what not strewn accross the galaxy. It would be kind of cool if you could pay to have your cargo ferried to a location of your choice. I imagine it would be complicated, but it would be interesting if you could also submit a request and have the mission computers offer the missions to other players and you could set your own price for the service. Otherwise, even NPCs could ferry the cargo. It would also open up more cargo movement throughout the galaxy and give more pirating opportunities to players.

Anyway, just a few ideas... Some of them may be out there, but hopefully they incur some brainstorming!

yeah another idea:

CLOAKING DEVICE

yeah... a cloaking device that renders a player invisible to any other player and radar too. however, under cloak, you cannot attack or else the cloak will disapear. and there should be scanners that can detect them.

guys read the READ FIRST thing and look for threads that already have your idea in it and post there instead of creating new threads.

Welcome to VO HarbingerSmitty, some good ideas.

I've heard the faction system is getting a revamp so 1) might have to wait. 2) and 3) sound useful as optional alarms.

4) Ship running-lights (okay so this one is just vanity =D). Sounds interesting.. perhaps be a little more specific? Some ships like the Revenant already have what you could call running lights. How would these be different?

6) The only problem I see with this is that if you had multiple home stations and could choose which one to return to upon death, it would enable a very effecient boom-teleport network. Returning to the nearest friendly station is something I've also suggested in the past which would be an interesting gameplay twist, nonetheless the current home station setup works fine if you ask me.

I think he means actual lights, as in lights that illuminate other things. Which isn't possible in the current lighting system ingame (no pixel/vertex shader lighting).

Hmm, I'm rather inclined to agree with Phaserlight's interpretation. The ship running lights sound like the ones in EVN, blinking lamps that look cool (albeit their usefulness is not much more than that).

Yeah, the ships are pretty static now.
Some "blink points" on the hull would be nice.

As for "running lights" that illuminate stuff, I do believe that's on the Very Long List Of Stuff Incarnate Wants already :)
