ship tradin / exange

just a very simple command to trade instation

/exchange "commodity" "amount" "player"
and an optional "price" i will just explain the price one of the player that is paying for this would pay the required amount of money and automatically the trade would occur this can only happen if both players are in the same station and the commodities that are going to be traded are in the station too
after the trade the traded ships and equipment would appear in the station hold of the person receiving

here is an example of a successful trade

playerone: /exchange "Sedina Chocolates" 5 playertwo 50000

player two gets a prompt

would you like to buy 5 crates of sedina chocolats for 50000 credits

[yes] [no]

simple as that and for ship trading

playertwo: /exchange ship* playerone 20000

playerone gets a prompt

would you like to buy playerone's prometheus MkII for 20000 credits
[yes] [no]

*ship would automatically trade the active ship

if a player pays half the money and the other player aborts or leaves the station the paying player would get his money back

this would greatly improve the current way we have to trade "not that i dont trust anyone" but i would really like to see something like this for a ship black market

ps i looked up the READ HERE FIRST did not find nothing like this

Great idea.. same sector or any where in the universe?

That would be fantastic. Big stamp of approval.

One question ... how would the trade/mining skill points be impacted with this?
Jul 15, 2007 Lord~spidey link
same sector and both players have to be in station

[edit] oh i would say this would not give any trade points or points towards mining badges

hmmm maybe trade points could be awarded if you sell things beyond there purchase price but i see exploits hapening so no trade points

I like this idea. Long overdue, IMO.

I think this is a great idea, but give it a GUI in addition to the commands, would you? :D

yes

Not outright. I'd propose to first implement the commands, and once they have been discussed to death, they can be added as GUI elements. This way, we know that the added stuff will be what's needed.

Just my opinion.

If we do this then later on we could go to larger lengths with the bar and turn it into the Commerce room or something. Players could directly trade with other players on the list or pay a bot like... 1000 credits a day to sort of keep their offer up even while the player's out of the station. Then when another player wants to buy it the player selling it gets a notification on their PDA to allow that player to buy it. I dunno, the NPC salesman is just an idea. But it would be cool to have player commerce rooms in a station.

I think this is a fantastic idea.

Just one additional thought, for the sake of argument: why would you need to be at the same station at the same time? Each player presumably has a station hold at each station. Why couldn't the goods be delivered to player two's hold on whichever station player one is, regardless of player two's presence? Of course, player two would then need to physically go to that station to pick up the goods.

If so, you also might want to add a location tag to the prompt player two gets. Wouldn't want people putting cargo for an Itani in the middle of Serco space or something.

ShankTank's idea is similar to EVE's market. Players put up item(s) for sale for a certain amount of money(s) and can also put up an order to buy item(s) for a certain amount of money(s). People would buy from items put up for sale and sell items to those buying them. You paid a broker fee to put up an order or to put up an item for sale (1% of profit that would be made)

Even if this idea is not used for ship trading, I would definitely like to see it implemented for cargo transfers at least.

THIS NEEDS IMPLEMENTATION

Sounds cool to me, could be useful for helping new players as well. I see no problem with vets giving newbs a few ships. If they try and start a ruckus with them they will run out in short order anyway. This would allow people to actually make a living out of flying SVG's to d14 and selling them, or Valk's and proms, hell sell moths in Azek, XC's in itani space, basically any weapon in Latos (Latos sucks). Sounds like it would make playing the game more convenient. Also if I could sell things I have in Versi without having to fly there I might be inclined to clean up my inventory, probably so would others.

Sounds good, except: it needs to be same sector and same station. Goods don't magically transfer across the galaxy...that's why convoys exist.

If you want to transfer goods to someone far away, you could buy space on a local faction's convoy, but you'd have to wait for the goods to arrive and risk them getting pirated. (Hopefully people would consider escorting a convoy full of their own stuff.) Another option would be to hire TGFT or one of the other trade guilds to do it for you. Or...you could fly the goods there yourself. Too much to carry yourself? Find or buy some friends.

I think we mean, being able to trade goods to a player in a different sector, with no movement of the goods. It just changes hands, staying in the same station.
