the pop corn 2 (aka, orvil's revenge) is one of my favorite weapon but i can not use it because as soon as you face gattlers or rockets, you're pretty much poped yourself.
sometimes, out of pure boredom, i'll have a trip-pop2 a valk and go annoy bots with it, making sure audio is cranked up a notch or two.

The Flechette Cannon MKIII: What it lacks in power, it makes up for by weighing down your ship.
Abort, Retry, Fail?

this might work, drop the weight to 800 and youve got yourself the agt mini
edit oh wait .88 delay thats several times that of the neuts

no it needs to be at
hmmm 800 would be pretty good but if yer going to up the damage up the energy a bit too.

I saw someone suggest that a concussive blast might be added to the popcorn gun, so it'd not only damage but knock your target around a little bit. That could be cool.
no thats just i see a dual flare + popcorn might be too good
What about:
MkIII "Supersonic" Flechette cannon
damage:99
velocity:500
Energy:2
Delay:0.05
Mass:750kg
Targeting:same as Flechette MkI (normal)
That'll give you some speed for your bullet spraying, with minimal energy consumption.

HOLY shit i can see the sector lagging so bad if people started to use these.
SUPERSONICCCCCCCC YAAAAHHHHHHHh! BUDDAHBUDDAHBUDDAHBUDDAH!
DIE BISHES!
but maybe we could have a rail gun type shotgun as in high vilocity, low firing rate, big damage and limited ammo except spread shot like a fletchette. So if you landed each hit with on shot then it would do a bit more damage than a rail even. Also some big noise and pushing back ships that it hits w/ it's pure power would be cool. that would make it difficult to spam it. AND THEN IT CAN Be THE SECONDARY WEAPON OF DOOOOOOOOM! MUHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA! (Shotgun+Railgun+Neut)On A Ship=Dead.

"Electromagnetic shotgun! Really, have it fire 12 500damage railgun pellets at 300m/s each in a direction that's off from the centre axis of the ship by some small random amount of degrees. Would really pack a punch at close range, but it'd quickley lose effectiveness at long range unless youre shooting at something fucking super big huge like the broad side of a connie.
you could even make a magnum version for 2000pk's that fires 15 pellets."

It's the most likely weapon to have a high firing rate, i think.
popcorn is fine. maybe a little lighter. too bad eldrad (sp?) isn't around anymore, else he'd show ya how it's done. I'm not that good at it, but I've won a few fights with pops.
but there's definitely more effective weapons.

tell that to Nerde...
If the Flechette just had a little more to it, it'd be able to compete with the neutron blaster. If it didn't have that random firing pattern, it would be a neut, just less energy and damage efficient, and smaller auto-aim. The only thing it has over the neutron blaster is that cone of randomness, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense when it's just as likely to make you miss a shot as to land one. There needs to be something to a Flechette that makes it easier to hit with than a Neut, since Neuts already do better DPS and DPE.
- Firing Rate
- Velocity
- Accuracy
- AoE Damage
Any one of those three things would give the Flechette a unique niche in combat, a flying style that wouldn't be beat out by Guass or Neuts. Doubling the firing rate would allow someone to do killer damage if he got in close. Velocity would make the gun sweet for taking down light and pesky fighters, or a hornet could use it as a sort of flak against distant objects. (This would be badass, and a great counter to swarmers) Accuracy atleast would make it a viable change from neuts that would be less auto-aim reliant. Or making the gun hit even when it sort of misses would go right along with the spray style of weapon it is. Either a splash radius of sorts, or I think I heard t3h devs (forgot which one) speaking about a new weapon design where the closer it comes to hitting, the more damage is dealt.
I see two common types of fighters usually, those with neutron/positron blasters, and those with gauss. It would just make my day to see one with dual flechettes.

I approve of what Mynt said.
