It'd be neat to have a optional biography displayed on your personal information for people who scan your ship. Simple things like full name, eye color, etc.
Edit: I'm going to go ahead and assume that genka's vague, sarcastic remark is directed at this post. That being said, I'll explain with greater detail what I had in mind.
When looking at a player's profile, a tab on the side labeled "biography" or some such would be available. Clicking on that would display a little window of text describing some basic features that the player would have input earlier, with a space open for the character's "backstory". If a player never input anything, it would simply show as 'unknown'.
Obviously roleplayers might be excited to have this kind of a feature, but others might fine some aesthetic pleasure in making their characters feel more alive. Anything to bring a little more personality to game, eh?

Well, if this thread doesn't prove that almost any over-reaching and unnecessarily complicated idea can be expressed in a sentence or two, I don't know what would.
A relatively easy one then: how bout updating the load screens, after having to look at them quite extensively (long lag) they dont match the same high quality standard of the game.
Could add more hints and tips in home sectors, guild advertising, this sector offers etc etc, this is gray space beware pierats,.. the options are limitless

Make a default key for turbo lock. One of the most often asked questions by new players.
Allow the different tabs in the PDA to be binded. (bound?)

The problem I have with the roleplaying info thing is that it'd just be a text-field, and you'd end up with a lot of people with deep FUCK eyes and SHITBALLS-colored hair.
not everyone is serco.
Zing and stuff...
Something that has been bugging me quite a bit. Allow a toggle to take away the 'flight assist enabled/disabled' in the chat.
With frequency I change it durring combat, it very quickly fills my entire chat log.
Along this line, I would like a bind echo that doesn't go to the chat log, but appears like the PCC "send message to players HUD", that way I can still code in messages, but not have them fill my chat window.
Thanks

In response to Mynt/ctishman/et al:
I too would like to see such a feature, however I do anticipate the need (as ctishman said) for limited filtering because of "content" issues.
To combat this, there are several options we could take:
- Make the character bios/profiles available for the guides/devs to edit in the same place that we are able to edit ours (a page on the main site, perhaps). Ingame, the charinfo screen for other players has a "warn" button or equivalent that would (if a guide or dev were on) notify them in some fashion or another. If the profile needed to be changed, it could be dealt with there.
- Make it possible for the player to choose if they want to see another character's profile. Perhaps manage the list of unseen profiles like the current ignore list.
- These biographies should in theory fall under the purview of the chat filter (as I leave it off, I don't know exactly what falls under its purview beyond the chat) and be *-ed out as appropriate if something doesn't pass the filter's tests.
Unfortunately, the honor system is the most efficient way to do ingame character bios/profiles, because the guides and devs can't be expected to validate every single profile of every single player--they shouldn't need to check *any* profile unless there is a real issue with one.
zardos6ix: If you create a file named customtips.txt and put it into your Vendetta directory (that'd be inside the Vendetta.app bundle if you're on a Mac) those messages will show up on the loading screens in addition to the regular messages, I believe.
My own suggestion: Allow us to post (to the RP forum at least) as our characters, and let us be able to choose the names that each character uses. A text field next to each character's name under the Your Stats page would be simple enough, I think. When posting on the RP forums, a drop-down menu or set of radio buttons should be available for the player to select the character who is posting something. I'd make a mockup or something but I'm not particularly artistic.

what about "ship insurance"? it just seems like a good idea. there could be varying levels of it, like in real life to cover different things.
What if I want my character to have fecal colored hair, and shifty eyes that rape women with a look, so to speak?
Some more buttons for preset ships might be nice.
Oh! Let us see what our presets are! With all of my character switching and few-week-breaks, I don't even use the presets (even though my ships are always a bitch to buy!) because I'm afraid of getting the wrong one.
Quick and dirty: add an aural alarm when you reach 3000m.
Also, maybe allow for the disabling of the beep when you hit a ship. Some people have been asking for it.

... or offer a few other sounds that could be used instead.
How about the ability to create credit cargos? In other words, a widget you can buy and load into your hold and drop wherever. The widget is worth whatever you choose to pay for it. Would be neat for contests and things, for example, people could place bets on a fight and the loser drops the widget when they die, or it could be used as an award or a Flag widget during flag raid.
you can always ask a guide (provided you find one in-game of have an email address handy) to create such cargo.
i've also had a dev, once or twice, create them for me.
the problem with having self-created widgets is the possible abuse and devaluation of items.

I was really only suggesting money crates, not general custom widgets. I would suggest money crates don't change value like normal commodities.
