the VO UN...
just thought perhaps a system or station where the various nations meet for political reasons, try to work things out, argue, not get much done and occasionally do something right.
i suppose it could offer high level missions or something.

Ah yes. I agree, and would like to add that such a station would obviously fit best in the system of Itan, as everyone around the universe would agree that the Itani are by far the most reasonable, and logical nation of the three.
and the arguments begin...
Obviously, the only true place for this would be in UIT space, the home of freedom and the only nation not currently at war with thier nieghbors

UN-type deal (ineffectiveness and all) could only come about once the War ends, which won't be any time soon.
A council in UIT space? Over my dead body! The Serco are just too lazy and want to see the Itani leaders travel the extra two systems for every meeting. But I'd rather see the meetings held in Serco territory than pirate infested yellow space.
Anyways, hopefully I've made my point as to why this would be difficult.

It is quite obvious, that Corvus is the only true neutrality in the galaxy. Odia is the only sensible local for such an endeavor.
hell no
Corvus is not neutral in that they openly attack other nations' and factions' convoys. Thus, your argument is void, Roda.
The point is that there is no 'neutral' faction in VO, and I do hope there will never be, since war, or combat, is what fuels this game. Let's be honest, here.
The 'UN' (name could be subject to change) would not necessarily be a neutral faction, I think, but something of a 'holy ground', where no blood may be spilt. Repercussions for killing a player on UN ground would perhaps encompass expulsion from the player community as a member of any faction besides Corvus (known to be despicable), much like the permanent KOS that Incarnate mentioned in his post about the FF/faction system revamp.

Serco are not interested in it existing: they want Itani dead.
Itani are not interested in it existing: they just want to be left alone.
UIT are not interested in it existing: they want the war to continue as it provides a great profit boost.
Other factions are not interested in it existing: They do not care.
Why create something no one is interested in or cares about?

Pelatus it is Antz! Surely nobody cares about that place!
Wow, Antz. I think you described the modern UN as well.
I agree that no one wants the wars to end, but any government out there would obviously want to give the impression that they would, its politics, get it?
besides, it would be kinda cool to have the Governmental BS, it is implied in the game but if it were right out there...

Right. And both the Itani and Serco have shown that they feel the quickest way to end the war is to obliterate the other side. They're both in agreement, there's not a whole lot to discuss... I mean, what would this 'VO UN' accomplish?
Oh, oh, let's take the most useless political organization of the 20th century and put a duplicate in its place in the 44th?
No thanks.
No thanks.
there's already been a suggestion of a multi-station sector where all 3 main nations would be represented.
stations would be far enough so sf dont collide and a central roid field could serve to "settle disputes".

And in the roid field you would get levi spawns to fight back against the nations, and far off there in the distance would be a corvus "base" to do raids against the 3 nation stations. This is like all VO in one sector!
No thanks.

the universe *could* use a bit of implosion atm.
