Auto Homing at stations
I would love to have an option to automatically respawn at the last station docked at or perhaps even another option along side it for respawning at nearest station to location of death even if not docked at. I know we're suppose to hit "Set As Home" when we dock but sometimes I forget and there's nothing worse than having traveled through a dozen wormholes only to be blown away by some bot and then have to make the trip all over again.
on the logistics side of the equation, the problem is that the nearby station might not be the one you have, want or can spawn from. it could be where your enemies are located, a problem faction or one where you have no useful gear.
some of us would rather have to jump 2 or 3 sectors but re-spawn at a place where we can get decent gear from.
so, that's the whole point. you do have to remember. to home at a convenient place.

I duno I agree with Polar. It could give you a choice, the station you are homed in, or the closest friendly one.
It's not like having the choice would eliminate your ability to spawn from your home station. Aaand... weirdos like me would appreciate it for the sake of realism. I'd personally make it a point to always spawn at the last station I docked at, because using death as a means of quick traveling just seems strange to meh. =/

Of course you realize, that from the old-Mac-Gamer perspective, that's probably a reason a lot of people play it.
EVN was probably one of the first epic space shooters for Mac, and everyone who played EVN wanted them to make another one in 3D and multiplayer. IIRC, it got so irritating for Ambrosia, that asking for it became a bannable offense on their webboards. It's not unreasonable to assume that a lot of currnt VO players come from that same userbase, with VO being the new greatest thing to happen to the space-shooter macintosh fanboys... hell, you're here, and you obviously remember that game. If it wasn't for my previous addiction to EVN, I wouldn't be here either.
PS. I'm willing to bet that most people who've played EVN know what nation I played as. (;

Auroran?
I definitely agree with this, it's so annoying to acidentally teleport yourself across the galaxy.

Frakking Auroran.
... given the storyline, rather apt statement, that.
