LMAO 10,000 damage, why not make it do 100,000 damage, or "bazillions".
LeberMac, don't be irrational. 10,000 or even 100,000 damage is way overpowered. 9,000 damage would be much more fair.

I can see 10,000 damage per hit, but 5000-7500 might be more reasonable. The weapon takes 200 energy, has 5-10 pellets, and a velocity of around 700 m/s... for fun, let's give it a mass of 2000kg. Oh, 3 second cycle rate.**
ADVs are currently S port, 2,500 damage, 10 rounds per, 1500kg and 100 energy per shot, 480 m/s velocity IIRC.
** If the Lport rail is intended for anti-capship use, then all these numbers are off. 10,000 is far too low, given current cap ship hit points. I'd make the anti cap Lport rail around 25,000 damage, 5 shots per, 250 energy per shot, keep the velocity, and jack up the mass another 2000kg to prevent it making the hog into a super sniper.

5,000 damage, 200 drain, sure, that's reasonable. But why would you even need 10,000? If you want that much, just equip 2 of them - it's not like you'd want to put something that heavy on something with only 1 L-port anyway, and hey, you could mix and match - 2 L-rails and 1 Adv = 500 drain = 1 heavy batt = 12500 damage, all down the center axis of a ragnarok.

ok, wtf is the point of making a bigger railgun for 1kpks and 2kpks if they're both going to be SIGNIFICANTLY worse than the 500pk or even 25 PK badge railguns?

I can get megaposis that do better than that, and they suck less energy and weigh only 1/4 as much, without depending on limited ammo!
L-port rail needs at LEAST as much power as the Rail Adv, if not twice that. proportionately more energy, 10 rounds ammo and more speed.

How about just a wider (thicker) rail shot that does the same damage as the adv rail but has a better chance of hitting the target?
Electromagnetic shotgun! Really, have it fire 12 500damage railgun pellets at 300m/s each in a direction that's off from the centre axis of the ship by some small random amount of degrees. Would really pack a punch at close range, but it'd quickley lose effectiveness at long range unless youre shooting at something fucking super big huge like the broad side of a connie.
you could even make a magnum version for 2000pk's that fires 15 pellets.
