This only makes sense if nation-specific ships/equipment become truly nation-specific, which entails of course the revamped faction system, which (in my opinion) includes the FF problem and also station handling.

Pardon me for missing the joke, but why name a kamikaze bus after an Icelandic electro band, an East German automobile known for its long usable lifetime, or a rickety carnival ride? (Those were the 3 main things I came up with when looking up the name)

Heh, when i mentioned trabant i was referring to East German legendary car.
It was smaller than anything imaginable with a top speed of 80km/h and had a chassis out of simple plastics.
Just sounded funny to call it trabant when tosh made his comment about ferrarri.

Believe it or not, I had intended to make some more rhethorics using the very same brand, but I sort of got bored and left. The trabant rules, though. Drive faster than 80 km/h (or somesuch) and the engine overheats, setting the plastic chassis on fire.

anyway... i'm not sure i get what's going on here but i like the idea of a wormhole inside if an roid... or some other complicated hidden featers... maybe leading to an unmaped sector with a base and aliean ships... kind of a haven of exotix extras? i dunno... just an idea.

It could be a promjock killer if you make it explode with an impact of 30000 hull points. :D

If it has an armor of 1k, I'd agree with the 30k dmg (splash radius of, say... 50m?).

Akanese content is coming but no idea how far the line. I doubt they'll add East German cars, though.

Still, when the Devs finally put in Nation-specific models, my vote for the Akanese Govbus foes to Trabant.

You would consider a bus with 5k armor and a top speed of 150 a serious threat and its only weapon is its suicide explosion with a splash radius of 50m?

Can anyone willing to take a suicide mission with a certain death outcome have just a small chance of actually damaging his target or is that too much to ask?

if i remember correctly, the akanese weren't so much in on suicidal missions. but rather stealthy bombing missions and swift attacks.

this would beg for a fast moving platform but with somewhat low maneuverability and.. oh.. wait... that's the raptor...

perhaps a slighter better thrust raptor with an added l port.

but such a ship would be useless until there's something big to attack; something big guilds could acquire.

i'll leave what that "thing" is to the exercise of the readers (or historian as this has been debated over and over).

now, what if such a wh would have a roid at it's dead center, and a frickin big canon on top. say, a goliath? lets say this canon checks your faction. if you dont fit the bill, you're vaporised. end of story.

But i would still like a kamikaze trabant bus, akanese are fanatics. It would be consistent.

With 1k armor and the 30k damage at a splash radius of 50m, you have a very good chance of taking out multiple ships at once.

We had kamikaze bus drivers before, it was nigh-impossible to take them out at sufficient distance for even the better pilots. If you introduce a virtually unbeatable weapon to one faction (I'm assuming this will be Itani only), give the others something that counters it.

A wormhole in Jallik or Edras makes more sense to me, seeing as the Serco were looking in that area.
