Reverse in Aided flight?
Since Ive only been playing for a short time I cant remember the name of the first method of flight, the standard one.
But something that struck me right away in that was, why cant I reverse in this mode?
Wouldnt it just be logical to have reverse controlled as when you slide?
First slow down then going into reverse as long as I hold the key down.
Would make controle much more smoth I think.

"Flight Assist"
I hear what you're saying. FA is mostly for new pilots and for a few straightforward flying tasks. Most people graduate from the training wheels after getting the hang of the controls. I think many new pilots would be horribly confused by the reverse mode and would become frustrated as they unknowingly back into objects.

I used FA for the first week or so that I played... after that, I only used it for docking and tube racing. I flew, navigated and fought all in physics mode. Now that I've changed to a dual-joystick setup instead of the unwieldly keyboard + joy I had before, I don't use FA for anything.
Ty whistler,
There is always that problem of backing into objects.
I only get to annoyed when I try to dock and end up to much to the side off the docking port, having to stop turn around go forward a bit stop turn around and then into the dock.
Being able to reverse even slowly in this mode would be much more easy.
And Ive begun using physics mode alot to but its a bit tricky to dock with it.

you guys should bind an easily-accessible fa toggle switch.
i use fa mostly for travel (it's faster for changing directions) but i also use it in combat. i toggle fa on and off *many* times in combat (20+ times) and when i'm done, revert back to fa.

You'll get to the point where docking is second-nature rather quickly. I often turbo in at high speed.
It sounds like you could just strafe a little to adjust your path, rather than turning around for a new approach.

*sniff*
I still use flight assist. All the time. =(
Signed up 2003-03-18 14:34:21. At least it felt like I wasn't completely nooblar when it was called Arcade mode.

Yeah, I use flight-assist all the time too. Except when I want to slide, then I switch it off.
"...Graduate from the training wheels"?
What you smoking Whistler? Cuz I'd love some, seeing as most of the best PVPers all use FA mode to some degree.

FA on when shooting or closing distance to opponent.
FA off when recharging battery or backing off to re-acquire target.
Simple & it works.
Come to think of it, I can't remember the last time I "backed up" in Vendetta. Maybe when I was trying to take a picture of something.

As do I. It was a generalization. I didn't think it necessary to go into an encyclopedic discussion of FA for the purposes of this thread.
