Offline game
Okay, well Everquest, and a few other games have done it so far. Games that are MMORPGs creating console games with stories and gameplay for offline games to gain interest into the real game itself, helps generate revenue too.
I know the team working on VO right now is small, still It may be a good opportunity to experiment on gameplay that would have balancing issues in the MMORPG, but being offline would not have the same.
A compelling storyline, different abilities unique to the character and story, of course.
Historic events , or a story parallel to the games unique universe itself.
I believe it could do well with the right advertisement.
A game for the ps3, wii, and xbox. first, comprehensive space flight simulator/action hybrid.
Enough planning and this could work.

This has been suggested many times before. All of Guild Software's resources are going into the online game and I know of no plans for an offline game.
One day, when the backstory and features are fully-realized in the online game, they'll reconsider.
