With the new Erlang version, I suggest that Deliverator is renamed.
The current name is now filled with negative associations, and the future of the universe should be free of that!
I was going to suggest "HiveMind", but it's already used so many times....
Cargonator?
The Great Machine?
The Core?
Oh, btw, it was originally Surbius' idea, but he snoozed...

already has a new name, Glubbdubdrib.
"Glubbdubdrib was an island of sorcerers and magicians, one of the imaginary countries visited by Lemuel Gulliver in the satire Gulliver's Travels by English author Jonathan Swift. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glubbdubdrib)
The entirety of Gulliver's Travels can be found and read online at http://www.jaffebros.com/lee/gulliver/contents.html
As far as I can tell here are the reasons for the name...
On his way to Glubbdubdrib Gulliver travels to many other lands, his last stop before Glubbdubdrib is Balnibarbi....
Delivarator: (Balnibarbi, Lagado)
The wonderfull world of VO in its current state begins to look much like the lands of Balnibari. This starts to become evident shortly after arrival in this town when Gulliver gives the following account,
"I could not forbear admiring at these odd Appearances both in Town and Country; and I made bold to desire my Conductor, that he would be pleased to explain to me what could be meant by so many busy Heads, Hands, and Faces, both in the Streets and the Fields, because I did not discover any good Effects they produced; but on the contrary, I never knew a Soil so unhappily cultivated, Houses so ill contrived and so ruinous, or a People whose Countenances and Habit expressed so much Misery and Want."
This is much like the many players of VO, who are the "many busy Heads, Hands, and Faces, both in the Streets and the Fields", yet what these people produce has no real "good effects". Likewise, the many players still cultivate the lands (space) of VO, though this "countenance and habit" does express much "Misery and Want" (especially on the forums).
Next I would like to briefly point out that the Lord of this land is in many ways much like the devs of VO, I shall give a couple of quotes from Gulliver and expand upon that,
"But when we returned to his Palace, he asked me how I liked the Building, what Absurdities I observed, and what Quarrel I had with the Dress or Looks of his Domesticks. This he might safely do; because every Thing about him was magnificent, regular, and polite. I answered, that his Excellency's Prudence, Quality, and Fortune, had exempted him from those Defects which Folly and Beggary had produced in others."
...
"During our Journey, he made me observe the several Methods used by Farmers in managing their Lands; which to me were wholly unaccountable: For except in some very few Places, I could not discover one Ear of Corn, or Blade of Grass. But, in three Hours travelling, the Scene was wholly altered; we came into a most beautiful Country; Farmers Houses at small Distances, neatly built, the Fields enclosed, containing Vineyards, Corngrounds, and Meadows. Neither do I remember to have seen a more delightful Prospect."
The devs are likewise safe to speak with (even if there is something bad about their lands/space/game), as they are also themselves "magnificent, regular, and polite" (though I would personally disagree with the regular part, I am sure many devs would like to think they are ; 3 cheers to our humble devs). But the recent "Corvus Widowmaker" mission greatly illustrates how the devs "Prudence, Quality, and Fortune" may exempt them from the defects which "Folly and Beggary had produced in others". The "methods used by the Farmers in managing their Land", much like many of the methods used by the devs in managing VO, are "wholly unaccountable". And in some places we see great missions, convoys, and other such goodies, but the missions lead to nothing (yet), the convoys are often broken and have little effect on the game, etc... Much like the most beutifl parts of this Country, where houses are neatly built, fields are enclosed containing Vineyards, etc... The Country of Balnibarbi, much like the Galaxy of VO, is incomplete.
Next Gulliver goes to visit an "Academy of PROJECTORS" in Lagado, which is the great metropolis of Balnibarbi. This Academy is much like Deliverator in many ways. A great many employees (Projectors) are housed in this one Academy. Though this Academy is "but a Continuation of several Houses on both Sides of a Street", it is a single place that bears the purpose of improving every aspect of the country, much like Deliverator is a single process that bears the purpose of running/improving every aspect of VO (from convoys to border skirmish and much more). Further, the Projectors of this Academy are very controdictory, and find ways of doing things that, though they work perhaps even better than normal ways, just don't make any practical sense. Building a house from the top down, using the blind to mix colors for painters, using hogs to plow the ground, and other such silly things.
Gulliver now travels to the island of Glubbdubdrib, a place of sorcerers, magicians and necromancers who can revive the dead and use them for any purpose they see fit, including for the purpose of correcting known history. The deliverator replacement will likewise revive all the now dead and ancient lisp scripts for whatever purpose it sees fit, and will hopefully correct the function of the game, allowing old and new content to function correctly.
NOTE: these thoughts on the new deliverator naming are my own and do not necessarily represent why the devs actually chose this name (though they may very well be partialy correct).

Heh, I can't believe I missed that!
Thanks drazed.
Thanks drazed.
Great idea, but:
"The Governor and his Family are served and attended by Domesticks of a Kind somewhat unusual. By his Skill in Necromancy, he hath a Power of calling whom he pleaseth from the Dead, and commanding their Service for twenty-four Hours, but no longer; nor can he call the same Persons up again in less than three Months, except upon very extraordinary Occasions."[1]
That calls for 8-bit ... ;)
`Glubdrip` is hard to spell. We would call it something like that rather than by its name. Call it an 8-Track?

Not an idea yun, mom (or one of the other devs perhaps) already named the deliverator replacement and that name is glubbdubdrib. My thought were simply on WHY I THINK this name was chosen.
Oh, ok; I didn`t know that they already decided on a new name.
Let`s hope that their Necromancy works much better than the Governors!

erm... methinks momerath was pulling your leg drazed. (he has an... interesting... sense of humor.) ;)
And it shall be called "DEM"...

I propose "Deliverator ". Note the space at the end, that makes it new.
deliver at/or
I propose naming the new system "Wife". It is the underlying thing that controls EVERYTHING. Plus, when it is not working, everything STOPS for it. And it's easier than glubdudbdudbeer.... or whatever.
deliver later.

Ulysses
Odysseus "was known as Ulysses [...]. His name means "son of pain" according to Homer, or perhaps more likely, it comes from the Greek οδηγός: odēgós, "a guide; the one showing the way". It may also mean "pain" in the sense of the "the one inflicting and suffering pain" — not surprisingly, he nearly always suffers pain (mental and/or physical) in return if he inflicts pain on some one and vice versa. It can also mean the one who hates and at the same time the one who is hated. This interpretation is being reinforced by the fact that Odysseus hates the gods and he is hated by the gods. His name has its origins in the verb "οδυσσάομαι-οδυσσωμαι", which has two meanings: to hate and to be hated."[1]
"In the Odyssey (XI, Nekyia), Odysseus makes a voyage to Hades, the Underworld, and raises the spirits of the dead using spells which he had learnt from Circe (Ruickbie, 2004:24). His intention is to invoke and ask questions of the shade of Tiresias, but he is unable to summon it without the assistance of others."[2]
Isn`t that appropriate, and even romantic? It`s also very similar to `Wife`, I guess.

Clockworks.
I vote we name it "MultiVac".
But, I think that's trademarked... dunno.

(BTW "The Last Question" is the very best scifi short story ever written.)

I would change it to "Geez I hope it works this time or we're fecked..."
Call it AC then, that cannot be trademarked.
Impressive story, I wonder that I missed it ...
