Changing the graphic for scrap metal could go a long ways in enhancing the look and feel of the game. Just something that looks like twisted bent warped piece of sheet metal would be fine. To increase it's visibility, it could have parts of it that are red hot (and glowing), or a shiny part (that reflects starlight), or an occasional lightning arc. You could even give it the same glow you give the cargo crates. I would just rather it didn't look like a cargo crate.

It would even be nice to apply this same graphic to every piece of cargo that is dropped from a destroyed ship. That way, when you destroy a ship, you see a bunch of twisted metal where the ship used to be. Adds a sense of destruction to the game.

The cargo could otherwise behave the same way as it does now.

... for the sake of expediency, I think I would be happy to settle for just something that looked more like wreckage, and less like a pacman powerup.
