The title mostly speaks for itself. Just hollow blocks out in Sedina or somewhere with an entrance on either side. From training, to duels, to player held events, they'd be simple to throw into the game, and provide an excellent grounds for new games to abound amongst the player base. Thoughts?
A good idea, though not unheard of around here.

Wow! I liked this idea so much that I used my super-duper haxoring skillz to go ahead and hollow out and fragment a few of the bigger asteroids! See if you can find them, try them out, and get back to me on how much you actually like them!
Yeah too bad all this stuff is in station sectorsor Hive sectors. ya know, places only morons would fight in, unless you don't mind tanking your faction or being beaten the crap out of by bots.
Are you guys trying to imply that there's said arenas somewhere?
yes and no. There are hollowed out roids that you can fight in, but most sectors with said roids are infested with bots.
the idea for a more formal arena has been suggested before, but pvp is pretty impromptu as it is now.

Those 'roids I'm familiar with; I think it'd be fun to have a block with two exits on opposite sides, and maybe pillar down the middle, because that shape lends itself to a plethora of different games.
*Capture the flag
*Fly the 'moth through the enemy's gate
*Tag
*Melee
*Jousting (Using the pole as a guide, take turns making passes against your opponent)
*Free for all
*etc.
By the way, Genka, I tried out one of your asteroids, and they suck. Somebody needs to go back to 5th grade geometry and learn what a block is. Here's a hint; they're not the round ones.

lol, I have an idea. Who want's to have a nation war inside one of the race tracks in sedina? Corridors and corners would be so quake 3-d :)
Absolutely.
Even better idea. Tube nation war. serco vs itani (uit choose sides). Serco start at one end, Itani at the other end. First team to get a member through to the opposite side wins :)
Each side has a designated 'moth driver, and the goal is to somehow, god knows how, escort it through.
Heh, I've beaten a Taur through the tubes in a moth... It's not like the moth handles particularily bad when empty. It's still got power and armor, and without those pesky wingbug apendages.
Back (not quite) on topic:
Nation wars HAVE been done inside the maze before.
Back (yar'lyeh) on topic:
You can find nice arena roids in Pyronis and Verasi in station sectors. As of present, fighting is limited to duelists, or those with no desire to keep their faction standing.

The other reason I suggested a block is because they're pretty simple to design, and nice and easy on the graphics card. 6 sides, that's all I ask, no fancy 'roid designs, or intricate frameworks of beaten down battle ships, although that would be sweet. Just one of these:
________
|\_______\
| | Arena ! |
| | =) O <--|-----Entrance/Exit (One on the other side too)

Why go with a dull box when we ALREADY have the nice roids?
I doubt you've seen them. They're large, hollow, semi-spherical, and feature between 2 and 3 entrance/exit holes. Look them up.

I'm glad you asked my reasons for suggesting a block, Cunjo, particularly after I just explained with that phrase what they were. Allow me to add emphasis.
There are some pretty key differences between a large, hollow, semi-spherical asteroid lookin' thing, and a stark, white, blockish looking arena. The first major difference is the implied meaning between the two; If someone new to the game happened across a cool looking asteroid, I imagine he'd think something along the lines of "Hey, this is a cool asteroid! I wonder if I can mine it." Likewise, if the same someone came across a structure that clearly had nothing else going on besides two opposing entrances, I suspect he'd say to himself "Wow, that's arena. I wonder if people actually fight in there!" Other aspects that differ between a cube and a sphere is that cubes are square, and have corners, whereas spheres are spherical. (What is this, the third time I've had to explain this?) I shouldn't have to tell you the tactical differences, but I will anyways; In a space with corners, you can corner someone.
But, the most vital attribute of a block is that The other reason I suggsted a block is because they're pretty simple to design, and nice and easy on the graphics card. If making a lil' box out of text doesn't demonstrate that point, then I'm at a loss of words how to be more clear. Now, I admit that I sort of jumped to the conclusion that devs right now are more than busy just keeping the boat afloat, but I guess I just don't like to be demanding.

Found one of the big hollow roids in Pyronis D-13. Here are some pics.
Outside of the roid,
The other side of the roid,
And inside the roid,
Devs, could you please warp this rock to grey space somewhere? Or give me a cappie so that I can tow it out to grey. lol
Also devs, are there more like this somewhere?

The whole VO universe is one big arena, Itani/serco war, pirates, unbots, hive...
Why the hell do you ppl want to force pvpers in some godforsaken sector?

PvP should still go on everywhere, I'd just like a few 'unique' locations to play around in. An arena astroid like the one in the images looks like it would be fun for at least a while.
Just because such an area exists doesn't mean that there will be no PvP anywhere else bojan, it just means people who want to do arena style PvP now have a place to go try it out :) At the end of the day isn't it nice to have the extra content? Especially since most of this is apperently already in the game, poeple just don't know where.
If there are no similar roids in grey I would like this one moved (or better yet just copied) to a sector where we can all enjoy it.
Now, I'm off to hide in a very special roid in serco space after I l-mine the entrances to keep the strike force away. Take care ;)

If you want a fun arena, try fighting inside the structure of the Sedina D-14 station. You don't lose standing for killing around Corvus stations, and the station itself is hollow so you can fight and SF has trouble getting in. It's an interesting place to fight. Especially if someone has concussion mines.
Ahhhem, I hereby vote for roid placement to be in Sedina B-8
