new RP emotes
It would be great if we could use some emote commands like these:
/me puts her helmet and flight suit <enter>
/then goes to the docking bay.
would give :
*nioubi puts her helmet and flight suit
*then goes to the docking bay.
Or/and :
/and goes to the docking bay
Oh, and this one too:
/nobody One can hear a strange humming noise
would give:
*One can hear a strange humming noise
Maybe this last one should be restricted to group/guild/bar chat to prevent painfull things like /nobody YOU ALL S**K !
Mustn't be that hard to implement ? ;-)
Oh, and /me could work in group too :P

I like it.
why is it so hard to type "/me then goes blah, blah, blah"?
there's nothing really broken with the '/me', it works everytime if you remember to use it. and if you know how to use it, it should be second nature.
/me out.

It does not and has not worked in group chat for ages, even though it has been fixed to work in guild chat. THAT needs to be fixed.
Doak, its not that its hard, its that it makes the reading heavy and repetitive when you act a lot and your name appears at each line on the scroll. Noticed that /then is even longer to type than /me ? The idea is making the RP lighter and more pleasant to read for the others, not for the one who types :)
Btw, I have thought that /then or /and should only work if no one says something in between, and would return something like 'too late...' to its sender in such a case.
It shouldn't be possible to use it if you didn't first use /me , too, to prevent something like
(100)
*and you know what ? You all S**K !
And ,yes, /me really doesn't work in group chat for me ,too.

If one wants to take all those emotes and string them together to make a better log of a nice RP, one has to go and remove all the names /me put, so it would be nice to have emotes that don't put the name down.
Small example:
*Jex gets off bed
*Jex then puts on his bathrobe
*Jex looks out the window
*Jex realizes the view sucks
*Jex decides to go get coffee
Which I have to work to convert to:
*Jex gets off bed, then puts on his bathrobe, looks out the window, realizes the view sucks, decides to go get coffee.
I can tell you some people do LONG strings of that in VO.
Of course, using them at the wrong time can cause confusion:
*Jex pulls Miharu's braid
*Miharu blows Jex's head off
*and then kicks her in the shin
So is Jex a woman, or did Miharu emoted before Jex finished his "and" emote? We might never know, but I think it illustrates my point, which is, admitedly, minor.
Depending on the amount of work involved, these wouldn't have to wait until VO 2.0 or better.

I always try to think of all my character wants to do before writing it down, but sometimes I forget an aspect or something, and fall in the necessity of /then to finish my action without heavily repeating the name
>>*Jex pulls Miharu's braid
>>*Miharu blows Jex's head off
>>*and then kicks her in the shin
Thats the precise reason of the 'too late' thing I imaginated :)
In this case, Jex could simply not send his /and
In fact the result of a /then or /and should always and only follow a line that was beggined by a /me
So there's no possible confusion and the owner of the 'and' line is known : its the owner of the line just before.
[edit] mhh, VO client could easily know if another line appears before one sends the /and, but what if there is latency in the affair ? ... not sure if it is that easily solvable in fact, damn
[edit2] oh, about misuses of /nobody, one could ask who the last /nobody was sent by in the chat, perhaps with a /wholastnobody ?

Haha nice use of past events as an example, Jex. Not. -.-
*blows Jex's head off with a haywire gun*

The proposition in this thread is, essentially, to allow anonymous messages to be sent to public channels. On one hand it can add to roleplaying aspect of the game where one can express their thoughts without the fear of their identity being revealed, but on the other hand this might get abused by some immature players. Whilst not personally against anonymous messages like that, I suspect a large subset of playerbase would complain.
Hmmm, Antz has a point. I can see Genka's spam raising to a new level... maybe limit it to Guild and bar chat? Damage is still possible but very limited there, and finding out who the culprit is wouldn't be as hard as if it happened on 100.
yes, as I said, limit to guild/bar/group sounds wise, no such thing on 100.
Maybe this ability could be gained and loosable if misused, too.

Good idea, especially with the clauses added.
wait, I have an idea that would do the trick:
/dim or /medim would do the same than /me, but your name would appear in very dark grey, but still readable.
This way one can say 'and', 'then', or whatever, the RP gets more readability, one can fake '/nobody' but the name of the sender is known in case of abuse. No use of /nobody or 'too late' or complex settings of any kind.
And its coded in 15 minutes :)
^_^ proud of my smart idea

I'm for this kind of idea, I guess.
