Channel 11, faction chat
Channel 11 could do with being added to the default list in config.ini, more players will use it.
It's a nice RP tool, shame its wasted as no-one seems to know it's there!
I've been monitoring it, no-one using it all on the Itani side at least.

Channel 11 does need to be listed for Itani use. As of today it has received some use. Great for reporting Serco activity.
I always tap channel 11. However, I never hear anything being relayed via it. Therefore, I agree with stewhites.
Considering all nations have their fair share of traitors (okay, I'll admit it, about half the Union players are Union traitors), channel 11 has fallen into disuse. To keep with the Union example, there's no point discussing anything in there about trade or pirates when the pirates themselves are listening. There are less Itani and Serco traitors (there are less Serco, period) but their information has been known to have been leaked, too, so the channel stands empty. In fact, with all the channels we have available, not a one is really secure, not even Guild or group are 100% spy-proof in some instances.
IMHO.
People should spy on it, info will leak, traps will be set.
All great RP fun :)

Nation chat should be the default channel. It will create stronger affiliations between players and their nations.
It's a good feeling when you wander into Itani space for the first time and don't recognize any of the players' names. It's like a whole new universe. It makes the game feel bigger. The problem is that it only happens if those players don't talk on /100. Nation chat being the default would fix that problem and help make the game seem bigger and more interesting.
We should definately do this once we advertise and have a bigger player base. At least then we'll know that at least a few players from each nation are online at all times.

I agree with FatStrat85. Other than that you can't capture territory, Nation War seems forced and artificial. You know the guys on the other side, and you're good buddies! I don't want to discourage community, but if there were a bit more national identity (tough with so few players), that would be cool.
This would go a long way to solve some of the current 'problems' in vo. I can't even count the number of players I've seen switch faction on a whim because of who helps them learn first.
11 is a far better option than 100 and I'd like to see it become the replacement default.

Nation chat channel 11 should become dead to players who kill their own nation standing enough to negate friendly fire protection, or maybe the player needs to be +0 or higher. It seems reasonable to me that my high-tech digital communications system would refuse to connect to hostile computers.
Yea, nation chat should be on by default. It could be a useful tool for communicaing with new players of your own nation, but if they're not on it to begin with, it does no good.
I also agree that Channel 11 should discriminate between home nation standings as well. a UIT with hated UIT standing should be able to communicate on 11 ONLY with other UIT who are UIT Hated.

I didn't know about channel 11 until about my 6th month of playing VO. I'll bet there's some random piece somwhere explaining something about it, but it'd also be welcome if it were on by default, if of course that would fit in with the new faction system.
