...I assume there's a formula that allocates ships to a convoy (ie two-three moths vs. one Trident)?

looking back on the last few days, I've been seeing and escorting a LOT more Constellations than I have Tridents, and I'm not convinced such should be the case...

I think the formula could be tuned to allocate ship type based on route distance; a trip across one or two systems shouldn't need anything more than a few moths and various escorts... likewise, a trip halfway across the known galaxy should have at LEAST a Trident or two, and many fighter escorts... ditto for a convoy crossing Odia, and maybe Sedina...

..not to mention the fact that the Constellation has been out for quite a while, enough time to be out of "beta" phase and being sold to other nations and corporations...

I've been wondering about this, i've never seen anything larger than a heavy moth on Itani escort missions.
Presumably because the tridents are all used for defense purposes at deneb?

I think this was connected with DELIVERATOR acting up. Somewho, it decided the Moth heavy was teh uber trader ship and allocated only that for convoys. Now, at least they have connies. But yeah, the Trident should come back. It was useful for in-flight repairs.
