GTS UI
Some day when a dev feels like it and has nothing more pressing to do, could an interface option to display all text in GTS be implemented?
Yeaaaah.
yes please!
Would be nice to learn a new alphabet. Even if it's beyond geeky geeky.

Hahaha, like the StarTrek Online game having an option for Klingon?
Sorry, the current GTS is not practical for that kind of interface. It's more like organized hobo signs.

Please do it! It'd be a bit clumsy, but it would work just fine.

I'd rather see more things to do in-game than a new language to learn. I think the guy who wanted the French translation would have priority over this, right after the game is able to speak to you in Khoisan. Demonen is right, though, the alphabet would need to be reworked into a more realistic text for this to be worthwhile anyway. The other thing is, is GTS a different language, or just a new alphabet for writing English? Because if it's English, I'd rather not see it in a different alphabet. If a non-dev can come up with a cool, realistic, workable language for GTS with a new alphabet (a futuristic alphabet would probably be simple and easy to read and write by hand, even if everyone types in the future), then that's cool. I'd rather the devs worked on more substantial stuff, though.
The phonetic GTS is mostly used for names of companies, last I knew. The pictographic portion has its own grammar and whatnot, so it's not exactly another way of writing english.
Example: English is SVO, GTS is SOV.

Order of words changing does not a new language make.

Wow, my post go necromanced!
GTS is sort of English, as there are very few symbols for words, and everything there is no symbol for you use phonetic, and phonetics you use in English.
As I originally posted, it is a good feature to have (adds depth/character to the game?), and I think I would love it, and would actually like to see it in game eventually, but it should not take precedence over almost anything else, as it is at the end of the day useless and unlikely to get wide usage.
In fact, this could all be done by the community on a voluntary basis - I doubt Guild employes know French and German and Spanish and Russian well enough to make a good translation, but if VO strings are internationalised people could contribute translation files, including a GTS translation of VO. That way there would only be translations into languages for which there is interest, and it would not create too much developer overhead (there would still be the issue of internationalising it in the first place, merging the contributed results, copyright woes with translation ownership, and issues with what the translation actually says, e.g. a malicious translator translating string "%s is having issues" as "%s smells of wee" would be very difficult to discover until the translation was in production use and users started complaining about an unjust accusation).

Translation's been discussed before, and the end is that, as always, the Devs are too busy to try and implement language options, though the community could crank up those translations in record time, I bet.
As for GTS, it has a phonetic/alphabetic element that corresponds directly to the western alphabet and numbers, and a pictographic element more akin to japanese Kanji. Making GTS for other alphabets could be a headache; pictographs on the other hand would be a bit easier, but still time consuming. Lastly, they are known as Waylonics coz he invented them, and Waylon's no longer with Guild.
If you want to see GTS, add it to the UI skins like some of us have done. Get the font files from the VO wiki.

Just nitpicking: The font from the wiki was corrupted when I tried to install it. Is that just MacOSX throwing a fit over nothing, or is it a serious problem?
I think it's your computer having a fit; I uploaded those myself, and they work here.
I need a new computer, then. Donations welcome...
If you buy me a MacBook Pro, I'll gladly donate you my iBook G4.
I'm pretty sure it could be done as easliy as switching the font to Wingdings, for example.
Well, that's the point. The way it would be now is pretty much a substitution code, using a new alphabet. Not a new language at all. I vote Khoisan be the official language of Vendetta Online. And the computer talks to you. In Khoisan. With that computer voice from Star Trek: The Next Generation.
