Station Designs PLUS
Whilst reading through many of the threads about stations I thought what about Agricultural Stations?
For those of us in VO who are old enough to remember the movie "Silent Running" from the late 70's where the ships had domes built onto the sides of them and the design of those domes had a transparent roof to let sunlight in and grew plants, basically foodstuffs inside.
How about something like that for stations? Maybe a couple of domes, how they are orientated doesn't matter as the stations own anti-grav will adjust for that. As for a suitable sun, yes only stations that are near to a yellow type sun will have agri-pods (domes) and are not near to planets either.
These types of stations would mainly be in UIT/Grey space as there are no planets that can support human or near human life. For stations that ARE near to suitable planets, like Serco/Itani they should have a visible AI bot 'transport' ship seemingly heading down to the planet surface and back up to the station.
Sure many players would try following the transport ship to see if it is possible to land, I think your HUD would give you a warning as your ships own mass would prevent a landing and should you proceed to follow you explode! That'll happen before you see the transport ship disappear from your radar as well as sector list.
As for the economic factors, foods grown in stations would cost more as it is not possible to grow enough in a station when compared to a planet. So selling station grown foods to a station that is supplied from the nearby planet would always sell at a loss - unless in RP terms a planet suffers a famine. CNN - Corvus News Network could announce that.
It might be an idea, especially considering that food is already a commodity, to separate out stations grown food as Synthetic Food - to include the Textured Vegetable Protein and planet grown food as Fresh Food, chilled in special 5cu, cargo crates.

I like it.
I like it, too.
In addition to the above, there's a problem with Edras B-11.
That is for a station in such an important sector as its name suggests Edras Crossroads, the station itself is way too small to be handling the amount of traffic you'd expect in such a position?
Since the introduction of bot pirates in grey space I find I tend to dock more often to re-supply with ammo and for repairs after a trip through pirate infested grey space. A trader has got to do what a trader has got to do?!
So in other words can you the devs put in a bigger station with more than one entry/exit docking bay as I also find at times I have to fight bot traders just to dock here?
