How about a new weapon? EMPC stands for Electro Magnetic Pulse Canon. This would be handy for pirates and traders alike. It would be a small weapon that would fire a concentrated beam of electricity that would power down enemy weapons and/or thrusters for a brief amount of time at a direct hit. Also, instead of having to buy ammo, each fire shot could use up some thruster energy instead.

Once the ship is powered down, the pirate would have an easy target and the trader would be able to escape safely.

good idea, but the focussing of this type of weapon is not exactly how it works.

an emp should be a lg port radial weapon, and would also kill your ship, allowing other's to protect you, and pillage the captured.

on the other hand, it would be an effective weapon for piracy, but not trade-protection. it would require a full charge then fire, and a full recharge to reload. if you came out of a WH, you wouldnt have any charge in your batt to begin with.

i dont see the possibility of a fast charge batt having enough power for these weapons either. heavy cell only (550), plus it would be considered the ultimate cheat weapon for pirates. as it is, they camp at WH's when you come through with no energy to fight back... this is all we need, no energy, and then no escape.
