Yes, I know this is for FAR FAR away (development-wise), but...

After we have player-owned stations, it would be cool if we could craft jumpgates; jumpgates, in this context, would be defined as devices which create a wormhole to another jumpgate. You can only use a jumpgate if it is on, you are within 100m of the device (or perhaps you have to go through it), you know its activation code, and you know the destination code of the target (the target being defined by the destination code). I think 8-digit hex[-adecimal] codes would be cool-looking, but I can see how something else would be more user-friendly. {Thus each gate would have a permanent destination code built-in upon construction and a user-set activation code / password.}

This would facilitate long-distance movement in an expanded universe ("Deneb-Odia passage through the Panama gate? 200,000c please.") and provide another cool space object to covet. {And you all KNOW how cool it could look!!!} :)
