Advertising In Game Business
>Idea: Have people rent large holographic displays outside of stations that will display short moving text messages.
>Idea: re below about a similar idea for wormhole space.
>Implement: Probably need several languages on each board, as well as the waylonic script. Players would rent space from inside the station that displays the billboard (or boards). >They could then enter a short message in response to a mission computer type question list, and have that message displayed on the board.
>These boards in themselves would at first be owned by the government of whatever area the station resides in, but later will be player-ownable. Players can then rent out space to companies that need advertising room.
>Billboards near wormholes: Players (later perhaps) could build their own billboards near wormholes. These would work differently however. Instead of displaying an image or a block of text, they will beam a short message into any nearby spacecraft, ex: "Tamion's Tight Tech Toys! Save and Survive!" and would else give contact information for that business.
I think this would give more incentive to actively participate in the economy, especially with the whole econ redux thing coming up, but now as well.
>Areas that are more highly traveled will cost more to advertise in. Sedina b-8, for example will cost quite a bit to buy or rent cuz almost everyone will see it. I imagine grey space and the systems within 2-3 jumps of Sedina should be quite a bit higher then the rest of the galaxy
>O.. and no billboards in systems that act as a border between Serco and Itani space...
If this has already been mentioned, the "search" function didn't turn it up for me. But even it it has, I think it's an interesting idea.
