Hi, I've only been playing a few days and already this game has got me involved far more than Eve Online. I'm a big fan of customisation and have been experimenting with the few ships available to me at the first few levels.

I have searched the forums for this kind of suggestion and haven't found one similar, plus remember i've only been playing for a few days, so if it has been mentioned already or is actually implemented, please feel free to tell me to get on with playing the game!

I would like to see the weaponry that you purchase actually mounted externally. This would give more variety to the ships you meet along a journey. It doesn't have to be limited to weapons, mining lasers and other items could be mounted externally.

I've seen a few screenshots of different ships, some with what looks like weapons externally mounted, but are these just there for looks or are they the actual weapons? When you de-mount them, do they disappear from the external view of the ship? and if you change weapons type, do they look any different?

This has indeed been suggested before, but I can't remember the dev's general opinion on the topic.
