Unbind Function in Options

Jul 08, 2006 maclypse link
I'd very much like to see the keyboard settings have the option to UNbind a key, or all keys associated with a function. As it is now, I think you -maybe- can unbind keys via the config files.

I, for example have a joystick with a not-so-brilliantly places secondary button. I keep pushing it by accident. I can assign the button to different functions, but remove it altogether? Not possible. An unbind function in the options, and perhaps a /unbind <key> command would be great!

Got some help on the matter from Nerde Verde:

/bind JOY0BUTTON1 ""

Done.

It probably wouldn't hurt to add the ability to do so via the GUI-Options anyway, as it is a lot more intuitive.

/bind somecommand NONE
..also works, still, I agree that a GUI version is lacking and missed.

Also, I thought you could remove a binding in the Keyboard options by selecting the command and pressing backspace (or maybe delete). Of course, that only works for commands in the game's list, it won't work for aliases or bindings that you created manually. In that case, use one of the commands above.

Yay! Something about VO that I know so *I* can answer a question!

Damn... forgot what I was going to say... hmm... er...

Oh yeah, keybinds.

There IS a way to use the GUI to both unbind and bind a key function to a key or joystick. I discovered it last night when I was getting my new Cyborg Evo working.

1) Open the controls and select "keyboard." This should bring up a keymap list showing every command and what it is bound to.

2) To add a keybind to the joystick: double click on the thing you want, such as "Select nearest enemy" It will turn RED. Press the button or key you want to bind that to.

3) To REMOVE a bind. Click ONCE on the thing you want and then press backspace. ALL binds attached to that command will be deleted.

d) Make sure you click "apply" or "OK" to leave this screen or the binds won't be saved.

It's probably a good idea to leave the default keys bound to their respective commands, in case your joystick breaks or you get a new one or something.

Hope this helps.

There's a default button in there somewhere, isn't there? If not, just delete your wgaf.cfg while VO isn't open and the game will reset everything to defaults for you(And create a new wgaf.cfg. Of course, you could just rename it and it'll do the same thing)
