NFZ defense exceptions
Nothing is worse then being shot at in a station NFZ and fight back. You get Strike Force killed and if you take your attacker out first, you permanently lose faction. The SF should ignore you if you were attacked first, and there should be no standing loss for defneding yourself.
agreed. but isn't this already suggested?
Now, let's see a suggestion on how to determine who shot first.
Does it count if I shoot at you, but miss?

Not difficult. The SF is only triggered if you actually hit a player, so the server can tell who shot first.
Good point, Demonen.
My personal opinion for handling that is something like this:
- Each ship has an "ordinance radius", which may or may not vary between ships, if not, perhaps make it a 100m radius sphere around the ship.
- If any sort of weapons fire (not including mining beams and scanners, of course) enters that sphere, the NPC/player who fired the shot(s) in question is given an NFZ *warning*. If another shot from the same player enters the sphere the player is in violation of the NFZ.
- If a shot *hits* a player, the warning is skipped entirely and the person who fired the shot is immediately in violation of the NFZ.
- If Player A shoots at Player B and subsequently violates the NFZ either by firing a second shot or by hitting B's ship, Player B is given immunity from the NFZ/SF/guards ONLY when attacking A, and ONLY until A either dies or leaves the sector. If B violates the NFZ by shooting at/attacking someone other than A, B loses this immunity.

If you fire and hit is the simplest way to piss of the SF. No need for any other mumbo jumbo, imo. You already get warned when firing in the NFZ that "Attacks on other players with the No FIre Zone will not be tolerated". That's the warning right there. Any more isn't necessary nor good, imo.
