with the new change of lighting you should now be able to buy lights, which you can then buy bigger ones and use them to blind you'r opponant in fighting, you can then add in light reducers like sun visors to block the light at the cost of darkness, they should be based on trade levels or something....

Yeah....the windscreen (or some) could auto adjust. Offcourse they should be expensive to buy...LoL
ofcourse and good levels for good ones so we can blind the n00bs :p
The problem is that the engine doesn't have a lot of support for dynamic lighting right now. Which is why ships don't have lights already. We have two lightsources, and ambient, and those are all used. Ray and I have both wanted to do a more advanced lighting model for a long time, but it requires a considerable amount of thought.. and work. So, we're probably stuck with what we have for now (trust me, I would love to make *really* dark sectors, ask anyone who flew around in Alpha).
