Vendetta Economy development
Ok this goes back to a discussion about capships and shipyards that i (barely ) remember discussing a few nights ago.
I've been playing for a few months now and am beginning to notice a few things from my perspective.
My game has shifted more from new system discovery and trade to a border patrol, Sedina kill fest , bus destruction direction. It’s fun but getting mundane. The Border Skirmish represents a new direction in the Border conflict story between Serco and Itan. I believe that linking the trade /economy aspects of border war to the skirmish will enhance the game for all involved.
I was recently involved in a discussion concerning Capships. Capships seem to spawn into existence and perform several tasks in the vendetta universe. If each major nation / faction had orbital / deep space shipyards, we now have an explanation for capship creation. Now since we have shipyards, we need raw materials to supply shipyards. This brings the trade guilds into the picture.( goods will be cheaper or expensive depending on military and Civilian needs ). Since Shipyards are valuable assets, we need fleets to protect them, this involves fighters and some day smaller capship commanders doing patrols and picking off opponents that stray into systems.
Building capships would require a weekly ( monthly …pick arbitrary figure )quota of ore from miners and traders. Shipyards represent a threat to opposing nations,so there are going to be raids to slow capship production or destroy the shipyards themselves. I can go on but the basic idea is that supply / demand and the protection of one’s nations assets might spawn new types of missions and/or war scenarios…
Think of it…Serco fleets penetrating as far as Itan and getting within a hair’s breath of shipyard / station destruction before being pushed back to Geira. The only thing that might be required to help make this look real is to create NPC fighter squadrons that follow the mission directives. That way an invasion force looks real and can tangle with a defending fleet in awesome space combat.
Anyways I want to start this thread so that we can give the Dev’s a fresh infusion of ideas….So keep adding suggestions!
Thanks,
Quentin

Cool ways of tying things up, Quentin. I think this has been the devs general direction with capships for a while, but you've painted the picture quite clearly for the rest of us! :D

Looks like something that belongs in...... (you guessed it) Suggestions.
Not only goes into Suggestions, but in the "Suggestions already given a thousand times over" subsection!
LOL jex... [Official Thread Hijack-In-Progress]
So, what WOULD happen if people actually searched the suggestion forum for previously discussed-to-death suggestions and bumped those with their new ideas instead of simply starting a new thread? I think we would have 1/4 as many threads...

**** you guys.
Quentin, thanks for your suggestion, but I believe it's Incarnate's eventual plan for an interraction like this

Given that the search function is extremely fickle (I never found the things I wanted to find... maybe it's just me, but I think I know how to use a search function), one can excuse suggestions being re-hashed.
Also, when people exhume old threads, at least two other bicker, and when they make new ones, they get told they're noobs. What gives?

This is, in fact, the general direction we're heading (produced goods and military facilities dependent on raw materials, resources and manufacturing facilities, all of which are open to blockading or raiding or the like). I would link to some newsposts on the subject, but they seem to have expired off the news page. Anyway, I meant to post here in more detail, but I haven't had a chance.. so.. just stopping by to say that we're headed this way, and hopefully it'll start happening before long.
So, thanks for the post, sorry for the impatient response from some people.
NOTE: I've also requested a search-function redux in the near future, so finding old threads may become a bit easier.

Hey guys,
thanks to all that put their thoughts up ( Good and bad ). Sometimes the negative comments can help us target players in VO space for future democratic player destruction ( one man ....one missile.... preferably a big one that atomises your testes for being testy ).
If anyone has a degree in business / ecomomics go help the Dev's out! Meanwhile everyone else kill the naysayers! and feed them to Gavan's German Shepard.....I've heard he has a big appetite....Woof woof! ( or !foow, foow ... if he is dyslexic )
Cheers,
Quentin ( aka Cuim )
