runner weapons
confetti gun
would shoot big large expanding objects of small mass at people, totally screwing up their ability to navigate properly
flash bomb
turns screens white and unusable for a few seconds

spews fake cargo, lots of it
doubler

when you fire this device, and are totally stilly, your ship slowly dissolves over a period of 20 seconds to appear very much like the surrounding objects. if you are near a bunch of crates, your ship will take on 'crate like' textures, and your radar signature will be that of a crate with similar contents. if you are near an asteroid, your ship will take on textures of an asteroid, and your radar signature will be similar to the surrounding asteroids. of course the effect is not perfect. anyone close enough can tell the difference.
fake explosion
enables a fake 'explosion' effect on your ship, which makes it appear that you died to those not paying close enough attention. also damages your ship.
fake asteroid
the type of asteroid is determined at the station when you buy the device. it will make your ship look sort of like an asteroid and appear on radar the same way. you have to be stationary to use it. transferring back to 'normal' ship signature, takes 10 seconds.
rocket
attach a newtonian rocket to a gun port. when fired, the rocket will produce thrust in a vector beginning at center of mass, and pointing outwads towards the gun port location.
slick
when activated, the ship will constantly check its velocity vector in relation to the nearest surface. if a collision is imminent, the ship will automatically change the thrust vector to try to avoid the collision.
streamers
this will leave a visible trail behind your ship of space paint.
glass
this will drop a moderately-expanding 150m diameter circular almost-clear surface behind your ship.
playdead
your ship will appear as if it is a piece of space junk. similar to 'asteroid'.
blackpaint
your entire ship will be black painted. like hotblack desiato's sundiver. a little shading. but no specular effects no cockpit no nothing. just black. pure unadulterated black.
little black box
'copies' every maneuver that the targeted ship makes, but mirrored and flipped around a point halfway between the ships.
little bo peep
automatic pilot to follow the targeted ship - or to fly directly to a targeted object.
botfriend 2
when fired, forces unaligned bots to attack your target.

I think the Streamers weapon would be awesome for people who wanted to do a sort of aerobatics thing (I know a few people have tossed the idea about at various points in time).

The streamers could also lead to a new way of fight analysis. You could look at your flight path after a fight and analyze it, possibly finding weaknesses/strengths.
Of course, that would require some sort of record/replay feature.

I really like the fake explosion, cargo drop and disguise ideas, and they'd work really well in combination too.
Would give traders more options than just running. Hiding would be interesting - you fly into an asteroid field out of sight for a few seconds and stop, disguise yourself as an asteroid, and pray :P

Flash bomb is a bad idea.
Fights would consist of simply whoever flashed first killing the other.
I do love the burrow idea.
Speaking of streamers... It would be awesome if ships had the Homeworld style ION trails.

I'm totally pushing for more random ship add-ons. Even useless ones would be cool. I'm talking about things that don't use weapon or battery ports.
I've always thought ships should each have certain capabilities or misc. add-on ports (specific to the ship and their variants). Mineral scanners would no longer take up weapon ports, but only certain ships - like the mineral marauder or the mining hog for example - would have extra specific add-on ports where you could attatch mining beams... mining beam coolant gadgets... other common or rare misc. upgrades.
The streamer would be a fun one that you could add to any ship for training or just for messing around.
The devs could make other 'event' or holiday items that would only be available for a day - like ananzi's noodle gun for Italian awareness day or something like that.

This could come out with internal and exteranal equipment slots. Better equipment would take more slots. Some could take both kinds of slots. Different ships would have different kinds of slots
I don't think so Sky Fox. Just because you're blind doesn't mean you can't dodge. It also means when they haven't used the weapons effect you're up one gun on them. That gun could easily outmatch any damage they could make to you in the time you're blind.

I can easily see Maddog with his spam-rag flying in, dropping a flash bomb, unloading all his swarms on you, then flying away to reload. He's a pain to deal with as it is, this wouldn't help. :P
