I was thinking how everybody is always worried about turning a ship into a spam ship when I got the idea why not make a lightning fast spam ship with a huge weakness.
Name: Lighting Bolt
Armor: 1000
Cargo: 2
Weapons: (2 small ports and 1 large port) or (3 small ports)
Mass: 1000kg
Length: 8M
Thrust 350N
Max Speed: 90m/s
spin torque: 10Nm
turbo speed: 350m/s
turbo energy: 45/s
The point of this ship is to go in fast, and attack rapidly before the opponent can attack. It will not take much of any damge to destroy this ship so it is not me for long fights and an inexperienced pilot would crash it into metors or the oppenent witch will either destroy themself or take out most of there hp. This is suppose to be an advance level ship so you will have to have high statues before you can get it.
If this ship is considered to broken then I would rather see it armor cut then the other statues cut. Tell me what you think?

the reason everyon talks down to spammers is they are percieved (whether it's true or not is amothe matter) and being skilless players who either resort to firing lots of poorly aimed shots out of seperation, or cowards who are too firgtened to fight fair so they make only low risk manuvers sacraficing ability to kill thier oponent for a far better cnance their oponent wouln't be able to kill them.
personaly i think the cent series is already filling the role you intended for the ship you perposed. (a fast lingt small ship that has virtualy no armor). personaly i can't stand fighting those little buggers, they're so fast and tiny... but that's a seperat issue.

The purpose of this ship is to be an unbelievable fast ship with nearly nothing for armor. This is that idea taken to the extreme. If it has no or few weapons equiped, it can be the scout everyone wanted.
Something like an Observer? One flare can pop em?
It's an okay idea, but definitely tone down on the weapon ports if you're looking for it to be a scout ship. Make it have one or *gasp* none. Scouts rarely fire shots; They relay info to the big guns who fire shots.

Did you read his post, Monkey? It's a ship expressly for spam & sprint. At which it would more or less suck, having only 1 L port.
Or we could use it for racing :p
It'd be a GREAT racer. I like it.
But the weap ports are just SILLY. One weapon port for a scout, please.

No, I was saying if you fully load it with weapons, it will be for spam and sprint. If you don't load it with weapons, it will be a scout.
Ah. I see. Then much less thrust & weight, please. I don't want to ENCOURAGE spam & sprinters.
/me skews the ball and says the idea is good for a scoutship, bad for a spam and sprinter. We don't want spam and sprinters
Allowing weapons on this thing would be a massive no-no. Unarmed Scout/Racing ship, it'd be an irritating fly, but at least it can't really cause much trouble.
The speed and thrust/mass ratio on that thing would make getting a bead on it close to impossible. Not to mention it would be moving and changing direction faster than most network latency would allow. If people think that IBGs are too nimble, this thing would give them reason to take a ball peen hammer to their cable modem.
Some comparisons:
IBG
Empty Thrust/Mass: .073 (Higher values = Greater acceleration)
2xN3s Thrust/Mass: .057
Spam Fighter:
Empty Thrust/Mass: .35
With 2xGemini + 1 Chaos Swarm: .078
Its Spin Torque/Length/Mass calculation (rotational acceleration, rolling and turning) will have similar results, just by looking at the numbers, but I'm not sure how the game calculates those values based on the shape of each ship, and my memory of rotational inertia and torque from high school physics is a bit muddled.
Loaded with more useful (lighter and more accurate) weaponry, this thing would be over 50% faster and more maneuverable than any ship in the game except for the Bunchies UFO.
The minimal armor wouldn't be enough. In the hands of even a relative newcomer to combat, mines (combined with an inattentive pilot), docking (ever see seekers turbo back to the station? *splat*) or someone bent on a kamikaze attack would be about the only major threat to this thing.

This has been suggested a number of times already.
One of those iteration was my fast observer ship, the TPG Dart:

The point of that ship was to eliminate overuse of auto-homing teleportation when you explode. Too many people use that as a cheap cheat in order to go from A to B through the rest of the universe.
My proposed TPG Dart has only 100 armour (yep: one hundred!) but would be extremely fast.

If its statues are to high for its armor then what about 500 armor. The point is if you get hit hard your pretty much dead but your nearly impossible to hit. The reason it has a lot of weapons ports is because it is designed for blitz creg.
exDragon sez : The point is if you get hit hard your pretty much dead but your nearly impossible to hit.
Actually, it's worse than that. It'll warp around the screen so bad that it's impossible to *track*.

Why don't we just scrap the weapon ports...and give it 800 Amour?
We already have the ship, and like so many other people have said, we just need to fit the right use to the right ship. If you want a spam-fighter, use the raptor. Give it 3 weapon ports, hardly any manueverability or turning, but a huge turbo speed.

But us racers must have a sleak ship just for pure racing :p
and to annoy others :p

Bad idea from top to bottom. Spam and sprint is very easy as it stands, just witness Mad Dog and Blackhole (in any guise). Take out all the weapon ports and add a bit more armor and you have a racer (but what's the point of a ship that can only race?); or leave one S port to get a light scout, and give it small enough thrust that when equipped with a high-mass weapon (like flares) it becomes too sluggish to use properly, to avoid a repeat of the IBG or rev C.
i think we have all the nimble but low armored fighters we need. there's the cent series, the raptor, the valk, and the vulture (all to varying degrees of nimbleness and armoredness)
if anything we need more gunboat type ships that are larger and more hevily armored so they can engage multiple smaller ships (the prom series).

but come on Lord Q...would you not love a little ship like the Arena Bots which we can go wizzing around in?
