hail-to-pause Tridents?
...'cuz the @#*% things are near-impossible to board in-flight... I've only managed to do it thrice, or so..

I thought momerath put this in?
dont' the tridents hangd around for like a minut at the beginning of the mission?
with the rear mounted landing bay it's prety insane to think you can land on one during flight.
but if they stop every time they're hailed wouln't that make them unreasonably reasy to kill?

Or make them only stop if the character doing the hailing is the one that took the Escort mission?
that'd work
**The issue, Lord Q, is that once you board a Trident to escort it, you either have to ride it all the way to the destination, or get out and "hoof it" ...no getting back on, after
**Yes, tC, that sounds better :D
(OR, in addition, if you happen upon a friendly Trident in your travels, maybe it can respond to a hail by asking for escort??)

How about if someone who is authorized to dock with it hails it for docking, then the ship will maintain a constant direction and speed and show the pilot a timelimit for how long it will maintain this. The pilot can also cancell this docking timer.
w00.. I like that, exDragon :D
how about you just learn to fly you whining lilly livered green horn.
i can do it, and everyone knows im an awful pilot.

actualy unlike docking with the HACs docking with a mooving trident is a bit tricky, i tried once, came close but bumped the side and ended up agroing the darn thing, so i gave up.
now that said i don't see a need to make it easier. just looking at the tridents it should be obvious that docking with a mooving one will take some coodination and skill. don't be misled by that rear facing docking bay, the HAC's forward looking bay is actualy easier to dock with.
i'm all for a way for escorts to hail the trident so that it will pause and allow docking, but i'd rather it limit that access to charfacters that are part of the escort mission, so that pirats can't use it to gain an advantage.

I never actually tried docking with it so I don't know how easy or hard it is. I was just throughing out suggestions.
It's fairly hard, since they move at around 80ms, you can't just cruise into it, and turboing you have to pause to get your angle correct and such.
Dont try doing it in a moth.

Wouldn't it be neat if we could take escort missions from the Trident or HAC itself? You notice them flying without a suitable escort, land on the Trident, and they offer you the mission.
That being said, I like the difficulty in landing on a Trident, its an interesting challenge.

Shouldn't have to dock to take the escort missions, you should simply have to hail them and then have some sort of inflight mission system (which I think is being worked on already, ask Mom, wouldn't want to start a rumor >_>).
It's not the speed that makes it difficult to dock with them, but that they change direction a lot, if they could simply be asked to hold a line for a few seconds it would be much easier.

I like both ideas. It'd be cool to be able to hail to take a mission, or also get it when you land.
I think the Tridents need to be more lumbering. They whip about and change directions a lot, making them very difficult to dock with.

All the capital ships whip about and change directions a lot. Both the HAC and the trident can change directions faster than my IBG can. I really think capital ship manouvering needs a look at.
Why is a capital ship cruising at 80 m/s? Isn't that fast for a captial ship?
