ammo/cargo and radar

ok, my first suggestion was to have radar while you look at the sector list so I don't get blasted while looking for someone, my other suggestion is that you can buy, sell, and drop ammo as if it were cargo, the idea being that if you have a bunch of missles and are blasting passing tridents iin b-8, you can have someone drop of a pack of gems or stingrays or whatever, you can pick it up, it will go in your cargo bay when you pick it up from space, you click on it in that letle bar on the left, and it reloads into your cannons.

From a realistic point of view, the replenishing of ammunition
to the onboard weapons from the cargo hold in space
doesn't make sense.

If there were 'outfitter' ships that worked like floating dock ships,
it would work (and add a new element to the gameplay),
but those would probably not have a high priority.

but a charge cannon that shoots out nanite onto your hull and heals you instantaniously DOES make sense??? I see no reason you could not have a gun that could reload a ship. Could even be nanites that construct the ammo inside your weapons storage area for ammo (clip or rocket tube, etc.) It's just a game after all.

But this will be handled in a different way shortly with the additions of the tridents docking bay and other capital class ships that will also have docking bays. So just give it a little more time.

Actually, yes, the nanites being dispersed on your hull and 'healing' it make a lot
more sense. About the instantaneous thing... that doesn't make sense.

Let me explain. Damage is supposedly mostly superficial, endangering the structural
integrity of your ship. Nanites would act much like a resin used to hide/'heal'
scratches and such on smooth surfaces (cars...); naturally, it's not exactly like a
resin, since the nanites probably have the ability to relocate molecules and/or
atoms.

However, I see no logical reason whatsoever to have a direct link from your cargo
holds to your weapon mounts. It just doesn't make sense. An external drone of
sorts that picks the ammunition up and automagically loads it to your tubes makes
sense, but it's not a magical way of replenishing your ammo. Maybe make it sit in
your cargo hold, grab the ammo you want it to grab and fill up your magazines.

This way, there would be a drawback for the system (takes up cargo space, has
mass, you need to fly fairly low to allow it to operate), making it much more feasible
in my opinion.

Using nanites to recreate weapon ammo in the magazines, okay, but you still need a
way to transport the 'soup' of disintegrated weapons (assuming they have shape
memory) from the holds to the weapons.

While I'm fully aware of the fact that this is a game, I have been happy with the
pseudo-scientifical explanations so far. However, I think that if much more 'magic'
is introduced, the game as such would suffer.

Tosh, the carco->ammo thing is dumb, but in all seriousness, what's to stop you from having a specialized ammo bay from which to reload your ammunition? makes plenty of sense

when you pick up ammo, it should go immediately into the ammo bay and begin loading into the weapons (actual loading takes time)

Point taken. With the new salvaging business going on, this would make sense, but I don't see it as standard on every ship. Maybe the Raptor with its engine/weapon pods that cram it all in pretty confined space, it would seem reasonable to assume an 'ammo bay' close to the weapon mounts.

Maybe the same applies for some of the heavier ships, and nation specials. But for ships like the Vulture, Centurion, Warthog and even the hornet, I fail to see where you would logically fit this. Not to mention that I keep wondering where some ships have their cargo bays.

Hey, the prom even has a cargo/ammo pod on the rear ventral surface... can we say extra sunflare magazine? Oh YES we CAN! =D
