Nuke the Vult

There's been mention in the past by devs that they intended on removing a couple of ships, like the bus, in order to give a better view of the game to newcomers by removing bland-looking ships. Basically, bring the graphics up to current modern designs and complexity without having to reach ubber levels to get to see them.

Well, I dont recall exactly if the Vult was in the proposed list of targets... but I would like to Vult to actually go away. For good.

Of all the ships in VO, the one causing the most griefs is the vult, being so thin. The Cent was recently enlarged to address the same issue but as for the effectiveness of that resizing, I have yet to really experiment PvP against one (other than with a Raptor) so I won't comment on that.

But the Vult repeatedly comes out as being excessively hard to hit.

On an aesthetics point of view, it's shape doesn't make sense anyhow. No ship requires wings in space. Unless they were used to mount far-apart weapon ports wich is not even the case.

So, either it gets a 3rd dimension, or it needs to go. A lot will flame me for only proposing this but it really is a problem.

No man, the vult is still one of the best looking ships in game, I love that bird. And about the wings part, they are retrofitted nighthawks, wich were atmospheric fighters at first.

Sorry, but for once, I'm completely against the idea!

It's ONLY excessively hard to hit if flown correctly.

So if you juke them, its often quite easy to get them to show that back.

Furthermore, the wingspan makes it a hell of a lot easier to hit with flares.

The vult, imho, is probably one of the few BALANCED ships in the game.

Its not ultra light, has a signifigant weakness, but one which can be made up for with control.

I like the vult to fly, also when fighting it it is not difficult to hit. all you need is to trick them into showing their topside and it is game over for them. The wing span also makes them rocket fodder which in turn makes them reveal their topside after the blast and results in doom for the vult pilot.

Get rid of the atlas, well maybe not get rid of, but upgrade the model and textures. It reminds me of olden days polygon only no texture 3D games for the 386 and the SuperFX chip for SNES

The vult is possibly the most balanced ship in the game. It is not hard to hit, has a significant targetable area when exposed, and can still be completely owned by a good pilot in a more agile rev c.

I'd have to agree with everyone but mgl_mouser the vulture should not be considered at all for removal. Out of all the ships that I could see going away, it's the Maud and EC ships that I would remove.

I've only been playing for a lil' while, but the vulture seems like one of the great ships of the game. Weakly armored, but highly maneuverable... it emobdies the whole combat system of this game that I really like. The are pretty goddamn hard to hit, but they don't take many hits, so it all balances out. Reminds me of pilots that complained about flying Sopwith Camels during WWI-also known as "death traps" for young inexperienced pilots. However, in the hands of an expert, they were deadly. Vult=Camel

Whoa Nellie! The Vulture is one of the few ship i can fly that don't make my Prommie sulk for days.

No, no and no.

Ye sure to remove bus? It is teh symbol of VO...

They didn't say they would completely remove the bus.
Just make a modern newbie ship I believe.
And the vult sucks as it is.
It needs a mass reduction.

Killing the Vulture would require a new fast fighter ship for the Serco that fills the same role.

Also, I won't have any of this. Dropping the Vutlure from the game would rob it of one of its most elegant ships.

no way, don't take the vult away... it's got so many lovable quirks.

the vult should stay... Its a powerful ship in good hands, its a deathtrap in most other hands.

Never!!!! The vult should not be thrown away! It's been there near the start so it shouldnt go away! Plus if it goes away, the Itani may have an advantage, so I say NO.

If a pilot can keep the vult's thin profile against you in a fight, that means that he/she is a great pilot, and that he/she has flown the vult the way it should be flown. And it's really really hard to do that.

Doesn't matter how great a pilot you are. If someone hits the roll key and aligns himself on the same vertical plane as you, his shots are coming for you, from either the top or the bottom, so the shots are still heading for the broadside of the vult, even without it being visibly exposed. Not counting the rag or the hornet, I find the vult to be the easiest ship to hit. (Yes, the Prom is harder to hit, especially when your trying to dodge the goddamn GT at the same time.)
Plus, in the future, the far future, the vulture will be one of few ships capable of atmospheric flight. (I'm assuming the TPG Raptor will be able to as well, its got wings with big engines on them!) So I say it stays.

Hmmm, I thought, when I read the title, you were gunna say *nuke the vult, cos it sucks!* because, generally, they do, theres nothing at all to say its over powered, and the only thing its got going for it is its small profile.

I find mauds harder to hit at times though, them lil arm thingies and its unique shape throw out autoaim on just about every blaster ingame (its gauss fodder though), sooo ehum, im going to have to disagree! Keep the vult, at least its sexy!

Oh, yeah, and regardless of furture stuff or anything, theres a good damn reason for its shape, its called the backstory... (the vult is based on the nightwing interceptors)

I love the vult. I initially chose to be Serco (or just plain "Red" back then) for the express reason of owning a red vulture. I like everything about it (and I haven't wingbugged in ages)

Lord of Blades: well rolling may keep you thin... unlikely... but I think softy was referring to being able to keep it thin even at close range.

Rolling and keeping the vult thin is far too predictable.

I can attest to that. Each fight I did less damage and died a little faster... Sheesh.
