Turbo...Speed...Thingie...
from general, because Inc said to take it here:
I really don't see what killing some *turbo* speed is going to do about the latency problem, or any other problems... you can only turbo in a straight line after all (well, at least for now - don't know what you might have planned) and the only thing I can see the turbo speed reduction doing to this game is removing the short and long range interceptor roles, making catching ships harder (aside from the moth, this was a huge 1-up for the traders over the pirates) and making travel in general slower.
I don't like any of those things.
So could we please have some turbo speeds back?

Nah.
It slightly reduces the effectiveness of flares.
I say leave it as is :)
I do agree on the one point that was made in the other thread.
I believe you discussed the blatant disregard for the correct use of the nerf bat.
You see nerfing is an art.
One that the Devs have really.......
I'm not sure they realize the delicacy of combat.
For instance when we whine about the AGT being too good we don't want you to hack at it with a machette till its twitching and then roast its corpse and eat it alive.
Sorry for the analogy, but 75% increase in mass?
300kg would have been overkill.
I *could* dodge AGT all day long (Before Rev C nerfage, not sure now). Shape can attest to that.
Heck WHY did the AGT get nerfed?
It was TOO easy to dodge. I think you guys should have turned it into a burst fire weapon, and taken the flare's Area Of Attack down a bit (bit = 5%).
Most of the update was good but the tiniest things have massive repercussions.
It's just depressing seeing the Devs hack at the stats like they've just got their 25k badge.
Ok, another point.
The stats on the Raptor are pathetic.
Not because the thing sucks, but look at the engines.
I mean COME ON!??!?!?!
What can't we have SOME realism?
Can't ships be unique?
Why the same mediocrity?
Why the increase in mediocrity?
It's got a quad engine setup. Give it MASSIVE turbo thrust.
It can have 160 top speed, who cares.
But it needs to be unique.
Ok I'm done.

heh, Kixkizzle, I'm curious, how do you think that reducing the turbo speeds reduces the effectiveness of flares? I would assume that 90% of the time in combat, a player would not have the opportunity to turbo up to more than 200m/sec before loosing the flares anyway...
There's a truly lovely thread on the Raptor's (in)effctiveness here http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/1/13307 that I think your complaints would be better heard in...

Everyone turbo's before they release flares.
Decreasing the cap speed of turbo decreases your turbo acceleration, even though the thrust has not changed.

Kix:
But decreasing your turbo accel also makes it more difficult to avoid them - if you get hit once, then you get spun around and can't get out of the way fast enough before the other person finishes unloading on you.
That happened to me the other night in my Rev, which is one of the reasons I wanted turbo back up in the first place.
