Hog Territorial Defender
Please, up the speed back to 250 m/s. The ship is a hi-speed interceptor, and as such it doesn't make sense, to me at least, that it should be no faster than a hornet mk 3. The battery mass has already done wonders to hurt its acceleration, since it's got less thrust than the other hog models (except for mineral extractor).
By the way, the mineral extractor has always needed tweakage since i've never EVER seen it used EVER.
Anyway, my point is to let the hog TD go over 220 at least so that it can be what it's supposed to be: a high-speed interceptor.

Are you sure it's supposed to be a high speed interceptor? I always saw it as more of a medium attack craft. If anything the Valk would be be a high speed interceptor.
How about giving the Hog TD a small armor boost to make it useful?

I think it's the "Territorial Defender" part that makes it sound like it should be system/sector patrol/defense ship. So it would be justified in being able to get from place to place quickly. As it stands, it now seems a bit useless compared to the Hog Mk2 or Mk3.
On a related note, it always seemed odd that Corvus would be flying these. Or was that just a temporary thing, since all Convoy related stuff used the same set of sample ships?

I agree with the initial post. It needs the speed to fill its role, and the high turbo drain has always more than compensated for the advantage the speed presented... now it just plain sucks.
Agreed...
(more or less already covered in the new version thread, but probably belongs in suggestions instead)
If the goal was to maintain balance while reducing the overall game speed for playability reasons... why chop the upper speed range off ships that are, by design, fast?
Wouldn't the more natural solution be to simply reduce all ship top speeds by X%?
So, while I see why you'd slow down the TD, I don't see the reason for a speed cap.

I distinctly remember Incarnate talking about reducing speeds across the board by 5% or so, but this doesn't seem to be along those lines--either he changed his mind, or he's just doing this temporarily.
Of course, it could be both--he may just be doing this to start, *then* cutting it >_>
... which would suck majorly.

Yea, it sucks now.
Not good enough for flarin popin.

I think the TD needs a make-over anyway. It was never used and its 250 m/s speed was just about completely useless. The only time I ever used it was for one sector runs during my pirating at the Deneb Run, but I hardly think the Devs made it for that purpose.
I'd rather see something new on it, like 2L ports or no S port w/ 250m/s 55/s to compensate.

um... small point, 100 kg is so miniscule an effect as to be immaterial in all calculations.
Additionally, if we're talking about Battery mass, since all other ships have exactly the same nonexistant limitation its not doing a lot.
You don't really start noticing a difference till you go through a change of about 400 kg.
...............
Back on topic,
I'm all for reducing speeds, but this seems to have been an arbitrary cap, I think a % decrease would definitely make more sense.
EDIT:
Inc, Please stop hitting my vulturious with the ugly stick!

I think if there is a speed limit put in place, then basically every ship should be reduced as others have stated. Reducing just the fastest ships makes the 200-220 infiboost ships much more appealing than the 'fast' 225 high drain ships. You'd only hit 225 if you were using high charge battery... and then you have to wait a long time once that peters out.
Need a balanced nerf! Not top heavy!

So....
Everyone will be flying Hornets now since they're the fastest?

I'll stick to my Prometheus, thank you very much.
Everyone switch to the Warthog CrippledPidgeon Combat Special!
I don't see how the turbo speeds affected latency anyways I figured the centurions bebopping around would be more of a UK latency culprit than a ship going in a straight line at 250.. "Oh no look, that ship escaping at 250 in a straight line and out of range has lagg jerked a bit I'm so upset" <-- doesn't happen
