Gaining back Grey Space Faction
I don't know how the new faction system will work, but the problem might persist. Currently, if you go below -600 with any grey space faction, ie not the main three, there is no way of recovering those points.
However, I did take an escort mission for Orion once and it took me to the Tunguka tation in odia. Miles is about -950 with them. The convoy docked as I flew around, avoiding sf and got the reward. I then left, unscratched. But back to the point, you get faction points for completing a faction's convoy run, right? Well, doesn't the station receiving said supplies need them or demand them? Wouldn't they be somewhat happy that you helped get it to them?
I'm not saying give the same bonus faction points for the receiving faction as the one you took the mission for, but maybe 5 points or so. That way, through hard work (only people who'd really want it back would go through the trouble), one can regain grey space standing. What do ya think?

I think that's reasonable. You should always be able to regain lost standing. Hell, if I can become Admired in Serco space, certainly MTP should be able to regain his Tunguska.
What if you could raise friendly factions to Tunguska, for example, and those friendly factions would also raise up Tunguska by small amounts? Or what if you tanked your Orion standing (since Orion vs. Tunguska are direct competitors), would Tunguska faction raise a bit then?

Miles doesn't want his standing back :) It's just a thought that ran through my mind while running around the sf.

I like the idea of having to find missions that take you to the faction that you're hated with, which then, in turn allows you access to some rudimentary missions from those stations.
there has been talk before of better ways to gain back faction from hated, and I'm still all for it.
Escort missions, etc... plus, it would be nice if different missions could be tied to more than one faction, influyencing both positively, or inversely.

This is more an interim thing. Something that really wouldn't take that much time away from other things to implement. It could be a placeholder until something better, like the other ideas suggested, come along.

Yeah ha I remember nodding off somewhere between act 3 and act 4 of that post... ("When Spellcast says something's gonna be long, he MEANS it." hehe)
But - still good ideas in Spell's thread.
