Pirates need some advantages with Corvus
How do you like the idea of giving pirates some advantages at Corvus, when they tank everything except Corvus?
Some of the things could be:
Cheaper ships
Access to TD hogs (corvus pirate npc's fly them too)
no NFS zone around Corvus stations (I specially like this one, YARRR!)
better prices in general for selling pirated goods
etc...
It's a pretty big sacrifice you make tanking all your standing, and all we have in stead are a corvus vult and a corvus maud (wich I both like of course), but they cost a fortune and you loose a lot of them. In general, give us some incentive to make Corvus space actually dangerous.

I agree {Stamp of Approval}
I would also think that you could get special weapons, kinda of like sercet corvus technology?
EDIT: I forgot, Incarnate said something about rebalancing the factions, FYI making them actual role players, or I think.

Believe it or not, I was just thinking about Corvus accelerated posis (5 less punch of aap, but 5 more speed), or Corvus neuts (basicly neut2 with 5 more speed and 50 more damage) and stuff like that, or the scanner missile from that other thread ( http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/2013 ) would be nice.
I know about the rebalancing of factions, and I for one can't wait untill it happens, that should add alot to the game. You would actually have to make some choises then. No more everybody flying everything.

Damn right,
though I think the corvus spirit ought to be a part of it, AKA, you
can't get things if you're admired by other factions.
Hell I have KOS with all 3 major factions, can I get something for RPing the outlaw?

C'mon Shape, read the man's post!!!
But aside from that, who can argue with suck fantastic arguments such as these?!
It seems to me to be a logical step adding Corvus as the anti-faction to UIT, given that Corvus has the same goals and aims as the UIT (ie. secure as much capital as possible).
I really like the idea of having to tank all your other factions though (at least the main three, it would seem obvious that some of the other corporations might have backdoor dealings with Corvus). Right now, if you want to be a pirate it is very advantageous to maintain high faction levels with all but your own. Seems silly from an RP stand point, but there is absolutely no reason to tank your other standings.
/me waits patiently for the faction redux.

Yep. This is the "Way Things Should Be™". Corvus sneaky-types should get access to lower prices, special missions, etc. If only because you've made the "sacrifice" of tanking your standing with the 3 main nations and raising your corvus standing.
TD Hog? Sure. Valks, Proms, IBG Cents, or SVG Vults - No.

Great idea! Encourage those already going to gray space (pirate types) to go there more often, and in the process further discourage that don't ever go there (trader types) from ever going there! Genius!
All sounds good to me. With the one exception that I don't think Corvus should be the anti to UIT, I think it's more like Akan to Itani. Corvus has taken a principle of the UIT and applied it above all others, somewhat like Akan to Itani. They could be anti to TPG or some or all the corps, but not nescesarily UIT.
I don't think that matters much what with minning and all Genka.

So what your ineffectively trying to say here is that this suggestion would make people who don't go to grey space, not go to grey space?
Back to your mom's russian love songs boy!

Heh. Just make some of the higher-end corvus missions ones that penetrate deep into UIT/Itani/Serco space and pop one of THOSE convoys. Possibly convoys that are escorted by capships or something.
Then, create missions from major UIT/Itani/Serco stations that require bulk procurement (i.e. 3+ Behemoth-Loads) from the same station, of something really heavy and expensive which makes the Behemoths nice big slow targets.
That there will be plenty of cross-pollination.

I personally can't see why pirates can't have access to valks, proms, and pretty much all the other variants of all the other ships; it's an artificial limitation that simply feels wrong. Just make them pricier.
Of course, to get your hands on them through Corvus, you HAVE to have everything else tanked, faction-wise.
And, of course, anything that has to do with faction standing should wait until the faction system is overhauled.

A Corvus Valk would be interesting. Some kind of retro-fitted piece of junk that was really only good for chasing down traders. Maybe with an increased cargo hold and one large port (megaposi) instead of three small ports. Of course, during their attempts to increase the beasts energy efficiency, those worthless pirate engineers would have screwed up the thrust in the process, making it basically useless for agt's. Oh, and they probably forgot to put all the armour plating back on as well.
Come to think of it, that was one of the coolest things about EV, the pirate ships. All the bastardised variants of the other nations/factions ships.
But I don't think that as a out of the closet pirate one should be able to stroll into Edras and grab one of those shiny new IDF valks. Same with SCP's (and TD hogs IMO).

Totally agree, gavan, specially on the TD thing. Right now, the only reasons the pirates have TDs is that they use the same fighter pools as the escorts; in other words, they weren't purposely given to the pirates as the Mercenary maud or the vulturius were, they are just using a generic "NPC fighter" list.
Or instead of stealing one nation's ship and saying it suddenly is a pirate ship, make one of the new ships similar in it's design: Good at chasing. It would be a lot better and easier than modifying a Corvus Valk.
All in all, I approve the idea that Corvus should almost be a 4th natiion/faction, if not a full one. Miles has almost everything tanked. All it's good for is RP.

Corvus should most definitely be the forth nation, but one that can only be gained though the loss of your initial faction standing, and, a comprehensive campaign of missions to prove your worthy of being a "corvus" pirate. At which point you should earn access to scrap versions of all the ship avaiable in-game, plus a NEW ship (designed by Luis) at +960 Corvus faction (which should be exclusive to Corvus). Prices should drop once you become a Corvus pirate. New "Special Procurement" missions should also be activated, similar to current pirate missions, but would not be on convoys but on "Special Deliveries" to collect datapads and blueprints, etc.

Just because your a pirate does not mean that your stupid, and if anyone is going to have a lot of money and resources it's going to be a well organized group of pirates. So why can't they have nicely designed ships just like all the other nations. Corvus is not your small time gang, they are an organized force with strongholds and man power and should be reflected in the game as such, with their own Capships, Nation Specific ships, and possibly even weaponry, specially suited for their trade, Pirating! ( Vulturious and Merc Maud are just varients of previous design :/ )
