Turbo doesn't feel fast.

How about a mild shaking/blur effect when you engage turbo?

ooh, yeah, would be nice.

You might also reproduce this effect by giving the turbo the strong bass again.

If you can't get a shaking/blur effect on the screen, shake the player! :P

Here's an idea:

Shaking good. Should be easy to implement. Suggested previously I think.

Motion blur bad. All the realtime motion blur effects I've seen look horrible not to mention it would increase the system requirements quite a bit or most people would just turn it off anyway.

Old bass good. Maybe make it an option? Or whenever the sound system gets an update to some crazy surround sound system there can be a "Mix LFE with front speakers" option just like DVD players have.

Shaking sounds good, but I don't think it should go alone. Maybe just a moderate increase in the turbo bass?

I'm surprised noone's gone off on how light should not blur going 240 m/s.
But ya, it is too slow.
Doesn't feel fast because its not high risk.
Maybe if we had a little bit of movement when turboing, we could race around close too asteroids and add some skill in chasing/running.

Plus ships just plain feel slow.

heh, but kix, m doesn't represent meters, and s probably doesn't represent seconds either

Remember? the itani and serco have superfast reflexes, a second to us is probably at least a few hundred "seconds" to them.

So its more on the order of 25000 m/s

yeah. yeah, shape, next you'll be telling me that it is the great Ba-Slick Newtonus who discovered the new theory of dynamics which has a fixed frame and a 250m/s velocity limit!

um... yes?

m is meters and s is seconds, Shape, deal with it. Turboing shouldn't blur visuals any, but a little shake as it is engaged would be nice. And turboing in wide open deep space shouldn't feel dangerous at all. It's when you're trying to do it deep within a closely-packed asteroid field that it does. And boy does it ever, specially with a valk or the TD hog.

jex : m stands for "Maunt" and s stands for "sest". m/s is pronounced "Maunt-over-sest".

They are units of measurement, invented by Emorek X.E.J. Both have dimensions of Mass2. The standard for "m" is the measured gravitational mass of Sol II, times the measured mass of the tallest mountain on Earth. While "s" is a basic constant of nature.

Deal with it.

If it were "Maunt" it would be "M", not 'm'. Ninny.
