Limit the time one can play?
Aside from money, the only reason I haven't resubscribed is that I'm afraid I'll get hopelessly addicted again, like last time. (I spent 16 of my 17 waking hours every day playing Vendetta, for crying out loud!)
So a feature to limit myself to a half hour or so a day would be nice.

P.S. Don't bother telling me I should be able to discipline myself about this. I should. But I'm not. So bleh.

I suggest an attention demanding significant other. They are more fun too. Especially the PvP aspects.
I find having a house, a mortage, a spouse, kids, and a job does it for me.
If I DID have the time, I'd be tempted to monkey with such a feature (D'oh! I just need another 10 minutes to make this last run).

yeah this would be an awesome feature. more MMOs should have it.
except people would start screaming at them to 'let me play more than my limit, just this once... one time...' and go on ranting flamewars about it.
a nice simple limit would be 3 hours a day. and you have to decide whether to have limited or unlimited when you sign up. no changing back and forth once you already signed up.
this basic simple version would take like 30 minutes to implement and test.
then again most MMOs are like drug dealers, they dont give a f@#$ about their 'customers'. when one quits (or dies), another is always ready to start.

Plug your computer monitor into one of those timers used for lights when you go on vacation. Set it to only turn on the computer for a set number of hours. When the time is up, your monitor turns off. That should get your attention and tell you when to stop. Problem solved.
I have found that this Logitech g15 keyboard helps me limit the time I spend on the computer. It has an LED screen that tells me the time and other info about my computer. The clock is much bigger than the one on the screen and it doesn't get hidden when I play a game in fullscreen mode. Weekdays, I am able to get up, surf the web, play a few games and I'm not late for work because I get reminded of what time it is.

I use an alarm clock near my computer for that purpose... although a big stopwatch/clock combo thingy would maybe be more useful. Anyway... I set the alarm clock to the latest time I want to drop dead (with a safety margin), and usually it works. If I set it, that is.
I'm with Whistler. Nothing like Real Life to limit your VO time severely.
Children. I suggest having children. Make sure that you have some that are of diaper-needing age, which will necessitate that you STOP every once in a while or you will have unpleasantness on your carpet/sofa/chair/house.
Have your own kids, don't try to go steal someone else's.
Or, you could just give me your phone number and I'll call you when it's time to log off. If you don't, I have creative ways of involving the authorities. (Something like this: "Yes, officer, TWO gunshots and a loud THUMP from the apartment. No, I've only talked with the current resident once. No, he never leaves, I think he's in a cult. Yes, or of course he could be addicted to Vendetta, that's true. Did I mention that he has bulk fertilizer and large empty containers delivered to his home?")

Actually, this is being implemented in China. At least that was the plan. There are to many people getting addicted to MMOs there (at least that is what the government says). After a few hours the chars of people get significantly weaker and it becomes even impossible to play.
hahaha, I know what you mean man, Vendetta can eat a big munch (dont know if thats a real word, derived it from munchies :) ) outa your time
Set the timer on your microwave? That way you have to get up to go turn it off. Unless you're in your dorm room and have set it up so that the mini-fridge/microwave/TV/DVD combo is all within reach of your computer.
I would like to add a "parental controls" type thing to the account system, which could be used for this purpose. I'd also like something that messages anyone who's on for more than like.. 8 hours or something, and suggests they go run around outside.
I can imagine it now...
I think a message like those that the devs/guides use to go server-wide would work nicely, as long as it was on your client only...
"[playerName], we appreciate that you love Vendetta Online, but you've been ingame for [xHours] straight. Go do something else for a bit. Your characters will be just as you left them. Now go. Shoo! Scram!"

Hahahahahahaha
That'd be a problem for IRC.

"The IRC/VO relay has determined that you don't have a life and have been sitting in front of your computer screen for too damn long."
