Deploying or dragging one's nets through an object results in a torn net that must be replaced. Your ship's top speed immediately becomes 5m/s, and you begin to collect widgets. What is collected varies on the sector, but it generally is a very large quantity of space rock (50c/widget) or Ice (80c/widget). The lucky netter can pick up all sorts of things, from uncut diamonds to raw xithricite. Of course, having another team member there to carry your widgets back to the station would be a great asset.
