Ships/Weapons Transport.
Imagine i go to Italy, and I buy a dozen of shinny red Ferraris, will I have to drive them all to my garage?
I go to Russia and pick almost 30 Kalachnikovs, will I have to bring them back to my place one by one depending on how much I can carry?`
HELL NO!
My point is we have Big transport ships, medium and light ships, why can't we just transport them each others?
I mean make the ships take cargo space (like these EXEMPLES<--- means that it's up to any suggestions) :
-bus 25cu
-Cent 15cu
-Vult 20cu
-Warthog 25cu
-Atlas 25cu
-Ragnagnok 40cu
-Hornet 40cu
-Centaur 55cu
-Marauder 40 cu
-Prometheus 40cu
-Valkyrie 30cu
-Behemoth (untransportable, may be by a cap ship)
*these are ONLY exemples, and all suggestions are welcomed*
same thing for the weapons
Make Sweapons between 3 and 5 cargo space ( depending on the weight)
Make Lweapons between 7 and 15 cu ( again depending on the weight)
It's so boring to fly through the universe again and again (and /explode to go back) just to have some of your favorite ships/weapons just where you want them to be.
Let me know if that just could be possible, or if im just tripping...
[EDIT] May be you will ask for the jettison question...
I got 2 answers:
In one hand: those special cargos should NOT be Jettisonable at all ( that would prevent ppl for sharing their weapons/ships )
In the other hand: ships are conditioned into cargo size and can ONLY take back their real size in Stations. That one could allow players to share their ships/weapons (black bizness?)
If u get killed transporting ships or weapons, u lose all your stuffs. :p

Those numbers seem low, craig. Some centaurs have close to 55 cu cargo caps themselves, which means you could fit a centaur inside a centaur inside a centaur inside a centaur....
Plus I'm thinking you can't just toss a ship in a cargo bay like a piece of scrap, it would need moorings, some kind of dolly?? etc...
If you look at a bus next to a behemoth it looks like maybe you could fit two of them inside (unless the moth is just a hollow shell with one giant cargo hold) no ship would be less than 50 cu to transport imho.
Good idea, though (even though there have got to be at least half a dozen threads on this topic already). Perhaps this could somehow even be worked in with cap ships and how many fighters they can fit in their docking bays.

Phaserlight:
Moorings are not needed if they are packed correctly. You could use packaging material akin to the way styrofoam is used nowadays for TV sets or computers, and just introduce a new ship, one that is really large, i.e. HAC size, only that it can hold ships.
In my opinion, it would not make sense for the current ships (the Behemoth excluded) to transport large objects such as ships, because I don't realistically see a way of having one big cargo hold (again, the moth being the exception).
As for weapons, they could start at 5 cu for the small blasters (GIPC and such) and work their way up to 10-15 cu.
When it comes to jettisoning, by all means, make it possible to jettison. But not to pick them up again except with the ship aforementioned.
An alternative would be to allow only some variants of the Marauder to transport ship hulls. It has obvious external cargo hold mounts, why shouldn't we be able to strap a ship (or two) in there? This would make it more interesting to fly one.

As it is right now, the only cargo ship that should be capable of transporting "ships" is the moth, which should only be able to transport 1 ship at a time in it's hold. The Cap ships and other larger frigates (Trident/New TPG, etc) are really what's needed for transporting of multiple ships.
As for weapons, I'm cool with the numbers you came up with.

yea, weapons should be transportable - I've been saying this almost from day-one, but ships?
well, no... *maybe* the moth could be retrofitted to carry one other ship inside, but then, what's the point? why not just fly the other ship? it would be faster anyway...
I'm thinking ships should not be transportable until we have capital-class transport vessels. (i.e. space charters/haulers) either player-controllable or for hire.
That said, I would REALLY like to be able to fill up my moth with AAPs or N3s and haul them all down to an Orion or Tung station...

Agreed, but this stuff would be interresting if only we could transport at least 2 ships at the time, if u fly trough the Universe just for one ship ( Damn! WTF?! you'd better fly it ! ) I think a moth should be abble to take:
5 cent
4 vults
4 hog
2 mediums and proms
and 3 valks.
Well we don't really have to *stick* to the reallity, OF COURSE a moth won't carry 50 valks but 3 is understandable... IMO
[edit] @Phaserlight to avoid the russian dolls effect you mentioned let just make the moth abble to transport other ships. and why can't we imagine that if u wanna transport it, it will be in seperate litlle parts taht automatically build up in the arrival station? that make sens for me...

or we could set it so all ships (except the moth, and any other larger ships to come) take up 60cu. that way a moth can carry 2 of any ship. and then the carying volumes can be rebalanced later when larger transports are implemented.
as for transporting weapons: the only holding point on that is preventing players from jetesining weapons for n00bs to pick up. once a check on that is in place i think we all agree weapons should be transportable.

I dunno, that could create a secret market for the low level players "pay me it's cost + 5k and ill give you the super level 10 weapons" etc, cause the newb will still go get killed like 10 seconds later and have to buy a new one from their "dealer" as they still will not have the appropriate levels
but there should be some discoueging factor (like if the n00b gets cought withy the weapon they can either pay a fine or set a bounty on whoever sold the weapon ie. rat-them out to the cops) otherwise the "black market" will become the primary mode of trade.
Well, that's why you don't CREATE super level 10 items, unless they're rare.
Most things should be in balance.
If the person loses them, they'll have to pay again to get more.

yes, i do.
levels represent something akin to lisences in real life. it is illegal for somone with just a level 3 lisence to own or operate a level 5 item.
now, that doesn't mean it's imposable to own something abome your level it just means that if you are found out, you and whoever sold it to you are going to risk consequences.
so some ships/weapons should simply be better, but should be harder to legaly aquire. and those superior items should be the minority rather than the majority amoung the univers's veriety of items.

Lord Q, I disagree.
Levels in Vendetta Online cannot be directly compared to licenses (driver's license, weapon ownership license, such things) like in real life.
If I understood correctly, it is the intention of the developers to make it more similar to real life (i.e. you have to take a test to be eligible for a certain license type), but as it is right now, it is not how they want it. Please feel free to correct me if I have written utter garbage.
Furthermore, I do not think that levels should have such a huge impact on gameplay as they do in other games (I never played World of Warcraft, but I know how it is in Diablo 1 & 2, Dungeon Siege et al.). I would rather like to see things that have been suggested for a while now: interdependent faction standings, and affiliation with one faction giving you full access to their range of offers (the interdependent faction standings system denying you access to the ones of another, hostile faction).

To avoid the Black Market thing:
You buy it in a station, it's a weapon, u put it in your hold-> its in a cargo box with a given gencode according to your player database so only the person who have buy it can use it as a weapon, or it will ALWAYS stay as a cargo ( like u don't have the code to open the box)
But, I like the idea of black market on weapons and ships.
Hey UIT that would be your ONLY way to get neut III ! :p think about it!

i agree that that woule be better, and i don't want levels to be as big a factor as they are in other games, but there should be some level of progression beyond just the faction system. i think, levels are a placeholder for a more flag based lisence system in the future. but levels shouldn't be meaningless numbers that have no bairing on gameplay.

GRAIG:
No, absolutely not. Think about it... the only two ships SMALL enough to possibly fit two of them in a both are the centurion and the bus... and nobody's going to transport a bus. Just about the only benefit I could possibly see to carrying a (single!) valk inside a moth is that the moth would have enough spare room (20-30u) to also carry five or six N3s.
You CANNOT fit 2 proms in a moth.
As convenient as it would be (don't get me wrong, I'd LOVE to be able to transport ships) it is far too impractical and unrealistic to carry them in anything we currently have available.
AFTER capships are released which we may control or charter, then yes, I can see trafficking ships becoming a reality, but for now, there's just no way...
and I DEFINATELY want to see a capital-class charter transport in this game... we need it, for both transportation/commerce and content (yay! content!)
