I want to name my ships

This would make sense for cap ships... but fighters?

Hey, if I wanna name my fighter 'precious', I damn well be able to stick a label on the thing...

I think the idea is that pilots (who don't spend every waking moment dying) would grow attached to their ships... realistically speaking, private fighters would most certianly acquire names of their own with time. names would be nice.

Naming ships would ALSO make it easier to remember which ship is which in a list of very similar-looking ships.

So it's not just narcissism, it's a useful categorization of ships.

Am I the only one that names his car/truck??

I've suggested this before and I think it's a GREAT idea, and something I thought was being considered with the new client UI update. Maybe not, but it should be!!!!

Naming would be very nice. Hopefully it wouldn't be too hard to implement.

As far as showing the name to other people... Perhaps add another line under the character name in the targeting box?

That is one of the first things I thought of as lacking. Even small ships are named in navies, the names are what makes the story. No names means that there is not much reason to take care of "the Lady of Death" or whatever it is called. In WWI as well as WWII all fighter pilots named their fighters; let us be able to do the same!!!

Oh, and I want the other players to see the NAME of your ship, and the NPC's refer to you by it, like in ESCAPE VELOCITY. Like: "Skullcrusher, you are cleared to land. Welcome to Bractus Watch." and "Skullcrusher, please standby for cargo inspection.", etc etc.

In your case, it should be "skullcrusher, fell on mechanic" or "skullcrushed, doomed hearse" =P

The irony was the point, Cunjo. I love the names of new players like... (example only, not sure if this is a real player or not) "Deathbringer Blood-drinker", when in reality they have 0 PK's and are peaceful traders, preferring to avoid those Artemis collectors because they're so tough.

The opposite of this is of course BUNNY, having a happy fuzzy name when "she's" a ruthless cold blooded killa! Could BUNNY name her ship "Hopalong" or "foo-foo?"

I have a character named "Benevolently Benign Benefactor"... he's a coldblooded pirate... or, will be, once I get him leveled sufficiently to start killing things.
