Tributes & memorials
It would be nice to have recognized players of all trades attributed a place in VO "history" in some ways. I'm not talking the back story thing but something tangible like sector or object naming.
Imagine some very well known character that has done something very special or perhaps "retired" or was killed (character deleted etc) after having been highly recognized for something. We could have a sector or perhaps even an asteroid named after that character.
Eg, the "Roksing asteroid", named after the late Roksing, a UIT roid boiler known for his involvement in training noob miners.
Or perhaps even the "[] Memorial Sector" as remembrance for a well-known [guild] wich has had a long history in VO.
Or perhaps even add fictional names or backstory tributes too like the "Akan Alley" sector name or the "Karun nugget" micro asteroid speckle (he was by no mean a great Serco but played a role in history).
I think this kind of thing could drive people in achieving something if not only for the memorial or honor of such a thing.

And we'll have weekly mass-mining events where everyone mines the roid with one small port mining beam!
Memorial site where LeberMac found his infamous tequila stash in Pelatus?
Good example Leber.
I think this would be cool. And anyone shouldn't be able to do it. The character/guild should have to be nominated or something by other accounts (not just other character names for obvious reasons). So that when a certain ammount of people vote for a character to have a specific thing named after him, the devs could pop it in.
Either way, Sedina B8 should definitely have some kind of memorial once the combat moves elsewhere in the universe.

As for the naming of things, well, I think they should name one of the Sedina Racetracks after BoxCarRacer, since he spends so much time there.
I love it. Lets call it BoxCar's Folly. I nominate the station track.
I also like _Ghost_'s idea. Voting and a some form of tribute for B8.

Yep. That can be part of the new UI - a "naming" convention. Just vote to name something, and a certain place in the universe gets, say... 100 votes... then the name change is implemented if approved. (by the devs I guess, I don't forsee this happening a LOT...)
You could name a sector, a station, a planet, a roid, a crater, a bar, etc etc.
Oooh what if the more grandiose the name, the greater number of votes it would take to rename it?

/me likes this idea
"Monkey Roid" anyone?
"Monkey Roid" anyone?
...goes looking for a suitable-shaped roid to call his own...
Can I have that One really big station in the Itan System?
I'd love to see a hollow or ring shaped asteroid in Deneb O3 called something like "The Turning Post" (probably need a better name than that) in tribute to The Deneb Run. Maybe make it lie between the warp in point and the WH so racers can choose to fly through it during the race.
That'd be neat, Martin.
