One way to effectively avoid sending messages to the wrong channel could be to change the text color in the text input field to the color used when displaying the message. So if you think you're talking to group, you'll discover that it's about to go to 100 since the text you type is light blue, etc.

or how about having it automatically report at the beginning of any message the channel it is going to? (ie. "100", "11", "group" "guild")
